Today is more than a long weekend. It is a day to remember the heroes who gave their lives for our country and the freedoms we hold dear. As the SCTP, we honor their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to something greater than themselves. May we never forget those who paid the ultimate price.

This week during the USA Shooting National Shotgun Championships at Halter Shooting Sports Center in Hillsdale, MI a few of our very own SCTP International Team members got the chance to compete and earn slots on the Junior National Team and/or Open National Team.

Aidan Tucker, Cameron Roberts, Kaela Hinze, Zach Hinze as well as the SCTP International S***t Team coach, SSG Dustan Taylor competing for the US Army Marksmanship Unit were all in attendance.

Please help us congratulate Aidan Tucker and Zach Hinze on earning spots on the Junior National Team, Kaela Hinze on winning the gold medal in Ladies Under 18 Category and Coach Dustan on bringing home the bronze medal in the Men’s Open Category and earning a spot on the Men’s Open National Team.

We were able to catch up Aidan who said, “I want to thank Coach Terri for her tremendous support in my shooting career and I’m super thankful for my time on the SCTP International Team. She has provided a wonderful steppingstone for me and future athletes who share the same ambitions that I do. I’m very excited to further my ambitions on the Jr. National Team and am finally getting to live my dream of representing Team USA. Competing against the top shooters in the nation has been a massive challenge, and the lessons I’ve learned on the range often carry over to my everyday life. It took a lot of work to get here but I’m super thankful for the steps and lessons I learned along the way.”

Virginia SCTP is building something special. 🇺🇸💥

Over the past year, I have worked diligently to help establish a strong foundation of leadership and support for the Virginia SCTP, and today I am excited to officially introduce the team that will help lead Virginia into the future.

Please join me in welcoming Keith Toler as the new SCTP Virginia State Advisor. Keith has stepped forward with a genuine passion for youth shooting sports and a vision for continued growth across the state.

Supporting Keith will be an outstanding group of individuals who have already shown tremendous dedication to Virginia SCTP:

• Morgan Judy
• Abbie Robeson
• JD Moore
• Brent Andrews
• Joshua Key

Success in SCTP is never about one person — it takes a team willing to invest their time, energy, and heart into young athletes, coaches, and families. Virginia is blessed to have exactly that.

I also want to extend a very special thank you to Ray Shields. Although Ray has moved to North Carolina, he continues to care deeply about Virginia SCTP and still faithfully coordinates our monthly Zoom meetings to help keep everyone connected and moving forward. His continued support means more than words can express.

And the growth in Virginia is real.

Both the 2026 Virginia SCTP Trap Championship and the 2026 Virginia SCTP Sporting Clays Championship nearly doubled attendance from 2025 — a tremendous sign of excitement, momentum, and the bright future ahead for youth shooting sports in Virginia.

I was honored to conduct the 2026 SCTP Virginia Sporting Clays Championship hosted by Old Forge Sporting Clays, and the event was an incredible success filled with outstanding athletes, supportive coaches, dedicated volunteers, and great sportsmanship.

Finally, let’s give a huge congratulations to Arrowhead Gun Club for capturing the Virginia SCTP Sporting Clays Perpetual Championship Trophy! 🏆 They will officially defend the title in 2027, and I have a feeling the competition next year is already heating up.

Virginia SCTP is growing, building leadership, developing athletes, and creating opportunities — and this is only the beginning!

Thank You Keith & his support staff!!!

Florida SCTP State Shoot:

I spent a fantastic weekend assisting with the 2026 Florida SCTP State Championship at the Palm Beach County Shooting Sports Complex!

Operated by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), this premier, government-run facility represents an important and exciting partnership for the SCTP. Collaborations like this reflect a shared commitment to conservation, education, and the responsible growth of the shooting sports, and I am incredibly grateful for the warm welcome extended to our athletes, families, and coaches.

The success of the weekend was evident, as this partnership proved to be so mutually rewarding that Florida SCTP has been invited back to host the 2027 State Championship at this exceptional facility—a true testament to the strength of this collaboration.

I’d like to congratulate all of the athletes who competed, and especially the team champions in s***t, trap, and sporting clays. These teams didn’t just win—they earned the right to take home their discipline’s traveling trophy, a symbol of pride that’ll sit front and center at their home range for the next year… just daring the next team to come try and take it.

Under the leadership of Florida SCTP Advisors Wendell Mixon and Joey Berardinelli, the program continues to grow stronger each year. Their athletes are not only developing their skills but are quickly becoming serious contenders in the clay target sports arena.

What truly sets this program apart, however, is the dedication behind the scenes. Wendell and Joey give countless hours to the Florida SCTP, and their commitment doesn’t stop there. They also volunteer their time supporting the SCTP Southeast Regional and spend an entire week each July at the Cardinal Center in Marengo, Ohio—helping host over 3,000 athletes from across the country competing in events ranging from American s***t, trap, and sporting clays to International Bunker and International S***t.

That level of commitment is what makes this program so special.

Please join me in thanking Wendell and Joey. We are truly fortunate to have volunteers of their caliber and dedication helping shape the future of this sport.

And as you can see from these smiling faces… spending time with Mr. Wendell is always a highlight!
