Tonight’s inductees are CW BAILEY, BARBARA BURGESS, BILL BANCROFT, LARRY MAKELA SR., JACK STALLINGS JR., JACK STALLINGS SR., and JACK STALLINGS SR.

The evening is hosted by BSN’s very own Alan Zlotorzynski with Brevard County legendary Educator, Administrator and Coach, Gary Shiffrin as the guest of honor.

Mr. Shiffrin will deliver a Special Adresse prior to the inductions

Referee shortage putting Southwest Florida high school football schedule in jeopardy

This is unfortunately not a unique story. It is happening all across the country. MCOA is always looking for sports officials across our 9 sports (football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, wrestling, soccer, girls lacrosse, boys lacrosse). High school football is experiencing a referee shortage all across Florida and the entire country. Southwest Florida is not immune. The South Gulf Football Officials Association (SGFOA) doesn't have enough referees for the upcoming season.

The 2nd annual MCOA Hall of Fame (HOF) ceremony will be held on Saturday August 26, 2023, starting at 5:30 at the P.O.W. / M.I.A. Community Center (formerly known as Pineda Landing), located on US 1, just north of Pineda causeway (5995 N. US Highway 1, Melbourne, FL 32940).

The cost will be $20 and will include a catered BBQ meal.

Beer and Wine will be available for a separate charge.

The 2023 HOF honorees were brought forward from the HOF committee and approved by the Executive Council:

CW. Bailey, Barbara Burgess, Jack Stallings, Jack Stallings Sr., Larry Makela Sr., and Bill Bancroft

The sad reality - gotta to love the umpire’s dedication. 63 year old vet who umpires for the love of the game and to give back to his community. With that said, we need to Bench Bad Behavior proactively and really come out in support of these sports officials. We look forward to astatement from the school and school system denouncing this and pledging full support.

The umpire said he believes the attack happened because he had given an unsportsmanlike conduct warning to the man's son earlier in the game.
