The "coffee question" is simple:

Would you get coffee for the janitor the same way you'd get coffee for the CEO?

A lot of people say yes.

A lot fewer people actually live that way.

I've learned that the people I trust most aren't the ones chasing status. They're the ones willing to serve regardless of who's standing in front of them.

They'll help when nobody is watching.
They'll carry their share without needing recognition.
They'll treat the newest employee with the same respect as the person signing the paychecks.

That's the kind of person I want in my life.

And if I'm honest, I don't always get it right either.

There are days my ego gets in the way.
Days I want credit.
Days I want recognition.

But the standard remains the same:

Serve because service is who you are, not because of who you're serving.

Character isn't revealed by how you treat important people.

It's revealed by how you treat people who can't do anything for you.

Who would you get coffee for?

Some days the workout is hard.

Some days you don't finish it.

Some days it doesn't look anything like you planned.

And some days, you feel like everyone is watching, judging, and keeping score.

But your worth was never determined by a workout.

It's not determined by a job title, a number on the barbell, a paycheck, or whether you had the perfect day as a parent.

Too many people quit because they're afraid of what others might think.

But the people in the stands don't get a vote.

The only opinion that matters belongs to the person in the arena.

And that's you.

Show up anyway.

Show up when you're tired.
Show up when you're struggling.
Show up when you're uncertain.
Show up when it isn't pretty.

Because growth doesn't come from perfection—it comes from participation.

And even if you fail, fail greatly.

Fail while pursuing something worth becoming.

Then come back tomorrow and step into the arena again.

Most people think aging means getting wrinkles.

The reality is that aging usually means losing physical qualities that make life easier.

Not all at once. Little by little.

You lose strength. You lose power. You lose muscle. You lose balance. You lose endurance.

And one day, getting off the floor is harder. Carrying groceries is harder. Playing with your kids or grandkids is harder. The things you once took for granted become things you have to think about.

The good news?

These qualities can be trained. And it should should start now.

Strength can be built. Power can be improved. Muscle can be gained. Balance can be restored. Endurance can be developed.

Aging is inevitable.

Frailty is not.

My goal isn't to help people simply live longer.

My goal is to help people stay strong enough to enjoy the years they've been given.

Which of these 5 qualities do you think you're neglecting most?

Two spine surgeries.

Years of slowing down.

And he thought this was just life now.

Former military. Active his entire life. But after years of pain and two back surgeries, he felt heavy, weak, and stuck.

He wasn't sure if he was even allowed to lift anymore.

He was considering Ozempic.

Most importantly, he was afraid that if he fell, he wouldn't be able to get himself back up.

Think about that for a second.

That's not just back pain.

That's losing confidence in your own body.

So we got to work.

Not chasing pain.
Not avoiding movement.
Not treating him like he was broken.

We built capacity.

Over 8 weeks:

✅ Less back pain
✅ Getting on and off the floor with confidence
✅ Lifting heavier than he thought possible
✅ Losing weight without medication
✅ More energy, strength, and resilience
✅ Moving like someone who still has a lot of life left to live

We didn't ignore his spine.

We built around it.

Strength.
Conditioning.
Nutrition.
Movement quality.

The whole picture.

Here's what I want you to understand:

Your age isn't the problem.
Your surgeries aren't the problem.
Your history isn't the problem.

They're factors.

Factors we account for.

Not excuses to quit.

Building strength and muscle starts young.

But it can be built at any age when you stop focusing on what happened to you and start focusing on what you can do next.

Sometimes all you need is a plan.

Sometimes you need someone who knows how to build it with you.

That's what we do at Phoenix Rehab.

White girls can't jump.
At least this one can't.
But that isn't the point.
One of the most important qualities for long-term independence is power: the ability to produce force quickly.
Strength matters.
Muscle matters.
But if you can't use that strength fast enough to catch yourself when you stumble, get off the floor, or react to your environment, you're missing a huge piece of the puzzle.
That's why you'll find me doing jumps, throws, swings, and other explosive movements—even if I look a little ridiculous.
The goal isn't perfection.
The goal is to still be capable at 70, 80, and 90.
Train for the future version of yourself.

No time? No excuse. This 20-minute circuit hits everything you need.
Short on time doesn't mean short on results. Run through this circuit for 20 minutes and you're done:
🚴 1 min cardio (bike, treadmill, rower — your call)
🏋️ 8 barbell deadlifts
💪 45 sec farmers carry each arm
🦵 6 step ups each leg
🔄 10 palloff press each side
Then repeat until the 20 minutes is up.
The beauty of this workout? You control the intensity. Go heavy, go light, push hard or ease in — it works either way. No excuses, just results.
Save this for your next "I don't have time" day. 💪

What's the difference between these two pictures?

About 10 pounds.

But the scale doesn't tell the whole story.

The picture on the left was lighter, but it also came with back pain, hip pain, fatigue, sleepless nights, and a body that struggled to do the things I loved.

The picture on the right is heavier.

Stronger.

More capable.

More resilient.

And honestly? Happier.

I didn't get younger. I got wiser.

I stopped chasing a number on the scale and started training for strength, capacity, and function.

I started moving with purpose again.

This wasn't some magical transformation. It wasn't a secret supplement, detox, or quick fix.

It was learning how to train correctly.
It was consistency.
It was patience.
It was showing up even when progress felt slow.

And here's the part that matters most:

This was before kids.

Looking back at 29-year-old me, I could absolutely outwork her today.

Age doesn't automatically take your strength.

Age doesn't automatically create pain.

Age doesn't mean your best days are behind you.

It simply makes movement, strength, and recovery more important than ever.

If you're dealing with back pain, hip pain, stiffness, or feeling like your body is holding you back, don't assume it's because you're getting older.

Sometimes you just need a better plan.

As the quote goes, "Faith and fear both demand you believe in something you cannot see. You choose!" - Bob Proctor
Faith keeps you lifted.
Fear keeps you.. afraid, worried, emotional.
When things get tough, give it to God and have faith he will deliver!
Happy to say rowan is fine, running around, and being her sassy self.

Low back pain is rarely just about the low back.

Your spine works as part of a full system — core, hips, pelvis, adductors, breathing mechanics, and movement control all matter. One area that often gets overlooked? The adductors.

The Dynamic Copenhagen Plank challenges:
• Core stability
• Hip strength
• Pelvic control
• Frontal plane stability
• Adductor strength/endurance

All things that can contribute to better movement capacity and resilience.

Pain is complex, and there’s no single magic exercise. But building stronger, more coordinated movement systems matters.

Train movement.
Build capacity.
