Beautiful day in Medora! 🚴☀️

Our very own Dakota Cyclery team member Kim Callahan raced in the Badlands Gravel Battle today! 💥

Wishing Kim and all the riders who are and have participated in an amazing race through the beautiful Badlands terrain. Loved watching several racers come in this afternoon!

After a busy day at the shop, Jen and Alec got out to enjoy a relaxing ride and take in another gorgeous day on the trails. There’s nothing better than bikes, fresh air, and the Badlands! 🏔️

It’s a gorgeous day in the Badlands and the energy is high at the Badlands Gravel Battle! (Joe Wiegand, …aka..Teddy) cheered on the riders at the start of the race kickoff 🚴☀️

We’re excited to see legendary pro cyclist Tinker Juarez out racing with the group today! Be sure to stop by race headquarters next to the new Hotel 1883 or swing into the shop on Main Street at Dakota Cyclery in Medora, ND while you’re out enjoying the action today as we are open till 6.

After 47 years in the bike industry, Loren & I have turned over the reins of Dakota Cyclery Mountain Bike Adventures to the new owners Jairo & Julie Ramos Lagos this afternoon at 1:00 p.m,May 22, 2026!! With Loren’s retirement this winter and eager buyers, we have been preparing for this day for months. It is bittersweet as we have spent a lifetime serving the bicycle community in Bismarck for 25 years (1979-2004), Western ND, 1994 -2026, relocating to the Medora area in 2004 and spending winters in the Phoenix area from 2004-2022, owning Cactus Adventures from 2014 & selling it in 2022! We are excited and confident for Jairo, Julie and their son Alec to be taking on this new venture. With Jairo’s mechanic skills and Julie’s management & organizational skills, they will take “Dakota Cycling Adventures” to new heights! At this time Loren & I wish to Thank all of the many customers, employees, family & friends who helped become part of our Dakota Cyclery family over the years! Being in the bike industry and adventure tourism industry has been an incredibly rewarding journey that we got to share with you all. I also want to thank our children Nancy, Tom & James Morlock who “grew up” in a the bike shop-literally, and the sacrifices that were made for our unconventional lifestyle! You have been and still are always there for us through the good times & the hard times. We are so proud of who you all have become as adults, and know how important the Dakota Cyclery Legacy is to you as well. We couldn’t have done it without you, Eric & Lila Boxrud & Rachel Eckenrode Morlock! We love you so much!I This is not farewell! Jairo & Julie would like me to continue for a season or two, which I am happy to oblige! There are many perks to owning a business, but I’m looking forward to the “perks” of being an employee! Welcome Cindy & Jim from the Jackson Hole area, and Brian from Indiana to join forces-“Share the “Works” Shuttle”, our 4 day supported shuttle on the Maah Daah Hey! Day one started with a chilly 42 degree & some drizzle , but these hardy folks were up for the challenge! Day two was a “ bluebird day”-light breeze, sunny & warmed up to the high 50’s! There’s still plenty of available dates to schedule your adventure on the MDHT! Give us a call! 😃

What an AMAZING turnout today at The Kind Hearts Project Bike Giveaway in Dickinson! 🚲💙

Together with The Kind Hearts Project, Stark County Sheriff’s Department, Dickinson Fire Department, Dickinson Area Ambulance, and many other incredible agencies and volunteers, over 100 kids were impacted today with brand-new bikes, helmets, and smiles that will last for years to come.

Dakota Cyclery was honored to participate in such a meaningful community event by helping fit and adjust bikes for kiddos throughout the day.

A huge thank you to Mariah Marsh & The Kind Hearts volunteers for all the work that went into making this event such a success!

We also want to thank Connie and First Lady Kjersti Armstrong for your participation, support of kids wellness, and dedication to providing bikes and wellness opportunities to our local communities. 🌟

Today was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when communities come together to support kids, health, and the joy of riding bikes.
