110 years ago, America had a pretty good idea: protect some of its most extraordinary places so all could enjoy them for generations to come. On August 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the act creating the National Park Service. Since then, parks have connected us to the landscapes, stories, and people that have shaped the nation, from towering mountains and wild rivers to battlefields, historic spaces, and sacred places.

For over a century, they’ve given us places to explore, learn, remember, and simply stand in awe. And, of course, plenty of reasons to lace up the hiking boots and say, “It’s just a little farther.”

Today we’re celebrating one of the absolute gems of Dakota Cycling Adventures — Kim Callahan! 🚴‍♀️❤️

Kim is a familiar and beloved face to so many riders exploring the legendary Maah Daah Hey Trail. After owning and operating Heart River Hearing in Dickinson for over 30 years, Kim stepped into her next adventure with Dakota Cycling Adventures, bringing with her years of experience, incredible knowledge, and a genuine passion for helping others experience the North Dakota Badlands.

For more than a decade, Kim has made it a personal goal to ride every mile of the Maah Daah Hey Trail each year, tackling it section by section throughout the riding season.

Whether she’s providing a shuttle, helping guests plan their adventure, supporting riders on the trail, or guiding cyclists through some of North Dakota’s most spectacular scenery, Kim brings enthusiasm and a welcoming spirit to everything she does. 🌄🚵‍♀️

Her favorite thing? Riding the Maah Daah Hey with friends and visitors and sharing the beauty and challenge of this incredible trail.

Kim, we are SO grateful for you and all that you bring to DC Adventures! We hope your birthday is filled with sunshine, miles of beautiful trail, great friends, and plenty of reasons to smile. 🥳🎂🚴‍♀️

From Quebec to the Badlands 🇨🇦🚴‍♀️🌄

What a sweet family adventure! ❤️ This wonderful family from Quebec, Canada, stopped in Medora while making their move to another part of Canada.

Since they love mountain biking, they couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take a break from the long drive and experience the beauty of the Badlands on two wheels!

This morning, we dropped them off at Buffalo Gap Trailhead for an unforgettable ride through the incredible North Dakota landscape. 🌄

🚵‍♂️ There’s no better way to stretch your legs after a road trip than with some Badlands mountain biking!

We’re so glad Medora could be a special stop along their journey. Safe travels to your new home, and happy riding! ❤️🇨🇦

Maryland to the Badlands! 🚵‍♀️🌄

Two families totaling a group of 6 riders are spending today exploring the beautiful Buffalo Gap Trail and taking in the incredible landscapes of the North Dakota Badlands before school starts! 🌄

They’re also getting to experience some of our top rental mountain bikes—a great choice for amazing kid cyclists looking to challenge themselves and enjoy the trails to the fullest! 🚴‍♂️🔥

From Maryland to Medora, the Maah Daah Hey Trail and Buffalo Gap are bringing cyclists from all over the country to experience the adventure of North Dakota!
