Weisberg Taekwon-Do Center

Weisberg Taekwon-Do Center Taekwon-Do instruction for children, teenagers, and adults. Affiliations: ITF, ITF-USA, and Original ITF Taekwon-Do of America. Classes are taught by Mr.

Our school includes the Itasca, Medinah, Roselle, and Wood Dale areas and the many surrounding suburbs in Illinois. At the National level, we are registered with the ITF-USA. Weisberg, who has been training in Taekwon-Do for 50 years, teaching Taekwon-Do for about 20 years, and recently retired after 32 years as a high school principal and teacher. The Weisberg Taekwon-Do Center is open to anyone

from ages eight through teenagers and adults. Classes are currently held on Mondays from 5:00 to 6:00 at the Medinah Park District and on Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 at the Itasca Park District. Visitors are always welcome to come and observe any class. We are open year round. In addition, there are not any contracts to sign at W-TKD. Imagine what an advantage you will have now, and in the future, by learning martial arts today. Do you like to stretch, kick, punch, relieve stress, and feel good? The benefits of Taekwon-Do include character building, confidence, self-esteem, discipline, focus, perseverance, physical fitness, improved balance, coordination, strength, flexibility, and self-defense. Imagine that “attitude is everything” and you will never give up in any aspect of your life. This is Taekwon-Do! This is the Weisberg Taekwon-Do Center! Step through our doors, observe a class, and see how we compare to typical storefront martial arts schools which have yearly locked-in contracts, hidden fees, required tournament participation, and the expense of monthly stripe and belt tests. At the Weisberg Taekwon-Do Center, there are no contracts to sign, no hidden fees, no excessive promotion tests and minimal tournaments to attend. Additional instruction before each class and other opportunities at no cost are regularly offered.

Step through our doors, observe a class, and see how we compare to typical storefront and park district martial arts schools. Visitors are always welcome to stop by, talk to the students and parents, and watch any class. We are open year round. In addition, there are not any contracts to sign at the Weisberg Taekwon-Do Center. Here at Weisberg Taekwon-Do we have very high standards. This can be summed up by one kick in this example. Mr. Ivan is testing for the green belt. Board breaking is a measurement of power, proper technique in kicking, courage, indomitable spirit, focus, determination, and on and on. Four boards with a step behind side kick. Three quarters inch thick, no spacers, no impressing the audience with balsa type wood. The same high standards are expected from all students, be it adults, high school students, or children of all ages. Those same high standards of technique that was expected of Mr. Weisberg decades ago. Or in this example, even higher standards. Though the number one standard from our students is reflecting the tenets of Taekwon-Do in their lives and the character traits that follow. Tae Kwon!

Preparing for another promotion test, grading, for blue belt candidates through yellow belt candidates. Their last test was in February, seven months ago. The students have been training hard and they are ready. Mr. Weisberg is proud of each and every student. Of course, this also includes our current blue and red belts, who will be assisting in the grading.

Taekwon-Do class cancelled today, August 31.

Good Morning Students and Parents,

Please read the email I just received from Medinah below. Please check your email throughout the day for possibly another location to hold class tonight.

The promotion test Wednesday is still scheduled. Please arrive by 5:45 and please be on time.

**"Hi Barry, unfortunately, I have some bad news. We had to close the building today due to a strong sewer gas smell throughout the facility. The Fire Department came out and was able to locate the source, but because of how strong the smell is, they recommended that we keep the building closed for the remainder of today as a safety precaution.

**I apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. I’ll keep you updated if anything changes."
---------------------------------------------------------

FYI - There is not an alternative location for tonight's class. I'll see everyone Wednesday.

Please pass the word to all your friends and neighbors. Please consider this for your child. P*e Wee Taekwon-Do is coming back to the Weisberg Taekwon-Do Center. P*e Wee Taekwon-Do is designed for children ages five, six, and seven years old. This fun program teaches basic Taekwon-Do skills and coordination, in addition to life skills, danger awareness, and character education. The children are taught how to listen more carefully, to follow instructions, discipline, and responsibility. The instructor is Mr. Weisberg, who retired as a high school principal and has taught at both the middle and high school levels. In addition, Mr. Weisberg is also a 4th Degree Black Belt, International Instructor, and a Class A Umpire with 50 years of Taekwon-Do experience. Registration and classes are at the Medinah Park District. No more than ten minutes from Woodfield. The first class starts on September 30th. Please register early to reserve your spot in class.

Parents,

Please see the recently emailed promotion test agenda for the students who are testing on September 2nd. Please print out for the older students and read to the younger students. These are some of the techniques which the students will be assessed on during the test.

Also attached again is the eligibility list for your convenience. As a reminder, the completed promotion application and fee (cash or check made out to Barry Weisberg) are due on or before August 17th.

Study guides can be found on our website. Any additional information presented in class which is not included in the study guides might also be asked of the students.

As the younger students might have mentioned to you, all students need to print out and staple three step sparring and also one step sparring for the green belts on up. These documents should be kept in a folder and placed in the students' gym bag for each class.

Thank you,
Mr. Weisberg
