Yoga was never meant to be viewed as a workout- yet, as we have evolved, so has yoga in the west. So I’m not going to tell you to not consider yoga a part of your workout routine, but I will tell you that it’s not a complete workout.
In yoga, we experience push movements. Think plank, chataranga, crescent lunge, warrior II, etc.
We are missing the pull movements that weight training provides.
Which is why I have been so passionate in collaborating with my friends over at BK Fitness.
Brooke is a lot like me.
She wants genuine community, movement that serves, strong bodies, open hearts.

Happy September, friends

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the idea of devotion over perfection.

There is something about the beginning of a new month, a new season, or a new chapter that invites us to begin again. We set intentions for how we’ll care for ourselves, the goals we’ll pursue, the presence we’ll embody, and the life we want to create.

And yet, even with the purest intentions, life happens.

Maybe you didn’t make it to the studio as often as you hoped.
Maybe a busy schedule pushed your self-care to the bottom of the list.
Maybe stress pulled you out of the present moment.
Maybe a difficult day had you reacting instead of responding.

It’s easy to see these moments as setbacks.

But what if they were simply invitations to return?

To take one conscious breath.
To pause.
To soften.
To begin again.

Yoga has never been about getting it right. It has always been about returning—to your breath, to your body, to your heart, to this moment.

This September, instead of striving for perfection, I invite you to practice devotion.

Devotion to showing up, even when it’s messy.
Devotion to caring for yourself, even in small ways.
Devotion to meeting yourself with compassion instead of criticism.
Devotion to the life you’re creating, one breath and one choice at a time.

Because it isn’t perfection that transforms us.

It’s the willingness to return, again and again, with an open heart.
