On our last day together we departed The Queen from Silverthorn Resort and Marina and swam into the sunrise watching the beautiful granite peaks of the McCloud arm come into view.

In addition to practicing swimming in the dark, and as a group, the texture on the water gave us some feedback to explore our new technique.

The Queen picked us up for brunch on the way back to marina, for an epic close to an outstanding 3 days together on

On Day 2 of SwimThrough Shasta we enjoyed the slide on The Queen from Silverthorn Resort and Marina before our morning technique session then took a hike to a natural water slide!

The afternoon integration swim gave the swimmers a chance to part water molecules all the way across the main channel of the lake with the Shasta Dam in the distance. As the sunset we settled in for dinner and dessert onboard.

Another amazing day on !

Trust. Tune. Test.
There’s a stretch of every swim where it’s just you, the water, and whatever story you’re telling yourself.

SwimThrough Shasta is a houseboat swim camp for the space between — three nights on open water, technique work that changes what your stroke can do, real conversation about what you’re actually training for, and a crew that shows up when it gets hard.

This is where you find out how much of that story is true.

Lake Shasta, CA, August 24–27. Only a few spots left before we cast off.

Book a call to see if this camp is what you’ve been missing to get where you want to go. 🌊 Link in bio

There's a point in every long swim where you start negotiating with yourself.

Maybe it's past the far buoy. Maybe it's the moment you realize you can't see the bottom, or the shore, and it's just you and the water for a while.

Swim Through Shasta is three nights living and swimming from a houseboat on Lake Shasta, August 24–27. Technique work, open water swims, round-table conversations, swimming into the sunrise and sunset.

Few of us know what we do with ourselves once the swim gets hard — once it's longer, or rougher, or lonelier than the pool ever was. This is a camp for finding out what your stroke does when it's actually tested, and what you do, too.

Curious if it's the right fit? Book a call with me and I'll walk you through it. https://swimwithintrepidwater.as.me/FreeCall

In reading James Nestor’s, Breathe, it occurred to me how cool it would be for an outsider to step into the ice and marathon swimming world to help characterize what I perceive as an amazing network of humans. Chris Ballard has done just that in his new book, The Plunge. I had the good fortune to speak with him and hear about his experience first hand—I can’t wait to read the book!

I hope you enjoy his story in the latest episode of on YouTube or your favorite podcast provider.

Childhood friends from New York, Julia and Kaitlyn found their way to Southern Oregon for a mini swim camp.

After discovering a love of open water swimming following a knee replacement, Julia had a vision: to one day share swimming adventures in beautiful places with her lifelong friend. So she gifted Kaitlyn a pair of goggles, a swim cap, and a few days of swim coaching.

Watching that journey begin together was such a joy. 💙

If you’ve been dreaming about improving your swimming—whether for open water adventures, more ease in the pool, or simply to feel more at home in the water—I offer personalized mini swim camps built entirely around you (or you and your favorite swim buddy).

There are only a few weekends still available this summer. Send me a message if you’d like to create your own experience. Link in bio.

“I was listening on the train and crying because I thought, ‘I’m gonna do this’.”

Lev’s story reminds me why sharing stories matters.

Not because we’re all meant to swim across Great Lakes, but because sometimes hearing another person’s journey helps us recognize something in ourselves.

And from there, life changes.

I try to let the story lead. This week I showed up off script to discuss how the podcast started and what I’ve tried to preserve over the years.

What does Stories from the Water mean to you? Drop me an email or book a Discovery call (link in bio), I’d love to hear from you!
