Come visit me at the Taylor County Perk event going on during the Medford Home Show on Saturday March 21st from 10am-4pm. I will be signing books for sale, and will be doing a reading from my book and also a preview of the book I'm working on now at 11:30. Stick around for the round table discussion with other local authors at 1:00pm. Can't wait to see you there!

Tomorrow morning I will join 23 of Medford's past swimmers in our first alumni meet. It will definitely push me and the others out of our comfort zones; diving off a block, flip turns, and not breathing are NOT like riding a bike. 😂 One of my events will be a 25 butterfly and that will take every ounce of grit I can muster to finish just 1 lap. I'm doing it to prove to myself that I can. I can't guarantee it will be pretty, but I will finish my races, and that's my main goal.

When emotions run high, it’s easy to want to punch something, throw something, etc. (Or maybe that’s just me?)… but science shows there’s a calmer, healthier way.

Studies have shown that mindfulness practices, such as meditation, and similar calming practices can significantly reduce cortisol levels and the feelings of stress that come with it.

Taking a few deep breaths, sitting quietly, or practicing even a short meditation can help shift your nervous system toward relaxation rather than tension. When we choose calm over aggression, we don’t just feel better — our bodies do too.

💛 Peace starts with a breath.

Every action you take is a vote for the person you’re becoming.

Do it once, and it’s a choice.

Do it again, and it’s a pattern.

Keep showing up, and suddenly—it’s a habit.

The small things matter more than we think. A walk instead of scrolling. Water instead of another cup of coffee (this one is HARD for me!) One brave step instead of waiting for “someday.” What you repeat is what you reinforce.

So choose actions that future you will thank you for. You don’t have to be perfect—you just have to be consistent.

Hard times have a way of testing us, but they also reveal what we’re made of. When everything feels uncertain, choosing to focus on the good becomes an act of strength.

Even in the middle of chaos, there are small wins, quiet blessings, and lessons shaping us for what’s next. We don’t have to have it all figured out. We just have to keep moving forward and believe that this season is building something greater within us.

So if today feels heavy with everything going on, pause and look for one positive thing. Hope takes root when we make one choice at one moment in time, to find that positive thing. 🤍

Peace…happiness…these are my ultimate goals. Here’s something that I had to learn to grasp, that changed everything: Control is an illusion, but peace is a choice.
The moment I stopped trying to manage things outside of my control, I felt lighter. I learned to release what I can’t fix, change, or force—and instead focus on what I can control: my mindset, my actions, my boundaries, my response.

When I feel anxiety starting to rise and I catch myself worrying about things I can’t control, I remind myself “focus on what you can control.” There is so much peace in surrender, so much freedom in trusting the process, and so much healing in choosing calm over chaos.

Letting go didn’t mean I stopped caring. It meant I stopped carrying the weight of things that were never meant for me to hold. It also provided energy and time to focus on what I do care about: helping others, being a positive influence on those around me, and being someone they can turn to.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, this is your reminder: You don’t have to control everything to be okay. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is let go.

Trying to be perfect is exhausting — and dangerous. Chasing perfection leads us to hide, to shrink, to believe we’re only worthy when we’re flawless.

Our imperfections are not failures. They’re proof we’re human, learning, and alive.
When we stop chasing perfect, we finally make room for authenticity, peace, and self-acceptance — and that’s where real confidence is born.

I used to think being busy meant I was doing life right. But I’ve learned this truth: constant hustle isn’t the same as real progress.

Rest isn’t quitting and saying no isn’t selfish.

When we say no to what drains us or doesn’t matter, we create space to say yes to what truly does — peace, purpose, and the things that set our soul on fire.

Balance isn’t about doing more or less.
It’s about doing what’s aligned and honoring both rest and hustle. 💛

Here’s something I had to learn: chasing a dream doesn’t mean I had to run myself into the ground.

Rest is not quitting.
Rest is not falling behind.
Rest is not a lack of ambition.
Rest is the pause that keeps me aligned with my purpose.

I had to realize that when I give myself time to slow down, I’m not losing momentum—I’m actually protecting it. It gives my mind the ability to clear, my body to recover, and my heart to remember why I started in the first place.

You don’t need to prove your worth by being exhausted. Dreams are built by people who realize it's there is a time to push and there's a time to breathe.

So if today looks like rest instead of hustle, honor it. You’re not giving up on your dream—you’re making sure you’re strong enough to carry it all the way through. 💛

“When you stop fighting for what you want, what you don’t want will find you” I have heard this a few times on and off, and a couple days ago, it clicked and was like a light bulb going off!

I was thinking about how times in the past I have "quit" because things got tough or they weren’t going the way I thought imagined it or I was just "too busy". But here’s the reality check: Space is never left empty. Whenever we stop moving forward toward something; whether it's a career we want, the relationship we deserve, or the health we want... the opposite doesn't just stay away…it moves in.

Doubt, clutter, and feeling lost will always find you the moment you stop reaching for "great." Don't let what you don't want, become your new normal. Keep fighting for you!

This does NOT mean run yourself into the ground, but make new priorities...Tomorrow's topic will be on that!
