Boston Women Rock is the brainchild of Mike Stewart, guitar and background vox for The Brigands, long time member of the Boston music scene and former producer of WMFO 91.5 FM’s Crash Course for the Ravers and now on "What's Happening wmfo/wmwm and "On the town with Mikey Dee: show wmfo and creative controller of Live Day WMFO....WMWM and mark skin radio , and Heather Stewart, bass player for the
all-women group Frigid, visual artist, volunteer at Girls Rock Camp Boston and founder of indie record label, Straight to the Top Records. Recognizing the need for a place where people could get information about Boston’s growing community of women rockers, these two Stewarts, only related by their shared interest in Boston’s music scene, decided to pool their resources and start a radio show. WMFO’s Something About the Women, www.satwomen.com, perhaps the longest running radio show dedicated to women artists in the US, offered to host the show.
