Keystone Nationals 11U Red will hold tryouts for next years team on Sunday, 9 July at Crestview Elementary school in Carlisle, PA (field #2) at 2:00 pm. Next years team will transition to 12U. Please message the team here with your child’s name, DOB, and Preffered positions. Parents are required to stay on school grounds during the entirety of the tryouts. If weather causes us to push things back, the rain date will be later that week, same location, date TBD. We will update things here.

In our first tournament of the year, our boys fought and clawed their way from the 4th seeded team after pool play, to competing in the championship game this weekend; beating the #1 seed along the way. We ultimately came one win short of our goal but the sky is the limit for these boys moving forward. GO NATS!!!

So we talked about it last night at practice the importance of everyone being on the same page with our prep-step ahead of every single pitch (whether it's hit in play, hit foul, or swung on and missed). Notice how these major leaguers are in lock-step with each other. We don't expect this level of expertise at this age, but this is the benchmark and what these kids need to work towards. Please make sure the kids are seeing this and the other posts here!

When we’re hitting in the cage and we focus on launch angle and ball flight, this is what we’re talking about. You’re launch angle and flight of the ball directly relay to your batting average. It’s all about making good solid contact and finishing your swing.

Parents…please have the boys read this to further push home the point of getting low to field ground balls. Notice how Brandon Crawford’s left toe is elevated. We’ve worked on this at practice. The point here is that as you funnel the ball up, your left toe drops which triggers the change to “footwork.” You don’t hear his name mentioned in home run race conversation, but he has one of the highest fielding percentages in the MLB over the last several years!
