1 Million Trees!
We partner with Friends of Trees to offset the paper usage for our in-person leadership and innovation workshops. We are super excited that they just celebrated their 1 millionth tree planting. Every little bit helps, and we are proud that our modest contributions have been a part of something bigger.

Enjoyed hosting a candid conversation at our last ReFewell over recent "toxic management" trends. The truth is Return to Office, reimagining DEI, and downsizing are all very pressing and necessary challenges organizations are facing. The problem is HOW leaders are approaching these challenges. Some key insights we discussed...

✅ Many jobs and cultures require in-person roles, but don't make blanket mandates that ignore staffing realities.
✅ We all want fairness without discrimination or quotas, so let's advocate for equity that resonates with both the privileged & disadvantaged.
✅ Layoffs may be unavoidable, but if you're involved in planning them, fight for the most humane approach possible.
✅ Don't assume your leadership will get these right. Use "the law of 2 feet" to take control of where you work.

Big shout out to org leaders Geoffery Richards, Annick Perrillat-Boiteux, Rashmi Fernandes, and Valynn Westfall who all offered balanced points on a way forward.

Totally enjoyed the exchange of ideas with these experts on Product vs. Project management. Some fantastic gems from Evie Brockwell, Jackie Colburn and Phil Araujo ...

💎 Product people could learn from project management how to navigate constraints
💎 Project people should learn from product management how to be customer obsessed and "get out of the building"
💎 We are way too emotional about our Job Titles. We have much more to offer than just a label.
💎 Job descriptions are not enough for role definitions. Have an honest conversation with your product / project counterpart

Many thanks to Mordak, and Low at The Digital Project Manager for organizing and hosting this confab.

People REALLY need to get connected to this community to expand their careers!

Super excited to explore the PROJECT vs. PRODUCT conversation with this industry expert panel, hosted by The Digital Project Manager and Galen Low.

⚠️ The Project - Product Management debate is one that has been both powerful AND problematic over the last decade. Too many professionals either ignore or criticize "the other PM".

💡 I'll be representing the PROJECT Management community, in what will be less of a "debate" and more of an "exchange".

✅ Register now to hear the professional skills you've been missing out on.

"The product vs. project manager debate is happening next week (and spots are filling up)!

We're teaming up with our friends over at The Product Manager to host a joint session where we'll break down hybrid roles, hiring confusion, collaboration strategies, and the role of AI in the PM/Product future.

We'll be joined by an impressive cast of top voices, including Jesse Fewell, Jackie Colburn, Evie Brockwell, and Phil Araujo."

Don't miss it!

Governance does NOT have to be "command & control". It's about how we make decisions as an organization.
Here's another instant classic from Evan Leybourn and the Business Agility Institute. Fundamentally, is your work at greater risk from centralized manager decisions or decentralized front-line decisions. The answer is both context-dependent and culture-specific.

Almost every organizational policy or procedure is designed around the concept of trust. And unfortunately, most companies have been built on the premise that they don't trust their workers. No matter how much your manager trusts you as a person, the governance systems of the organization are de...
