A Message from the President
There’s a Lot Going On
Hello HSTC Members!
I hope everyone is having a great fall! Even though the pool is closed, we have been busy at HSTC. Much like Santa, we have made a list and we are checking it twice to be sure the clubhouse, pool and tennis courts are in tip top shape for the 2023 season. Projects include:
Overgrown trees around the pool and tennis courts have been trimmed and cleared.
Our lifeguard chairs no longer met county code so we will have fresh new ones for summer 2023.
The chlorine level of the pool must be checked often each day so we ordered a new chlorinator to make it easier to monitor and control.
We are painting the interior of the clubhouse.
We are also doing a deep cleaning of the entire pool house.
For the board, we are working on several things to keep the HSTC fiscally sound and running smoothly. As we close 2022, we are going through several processes to prepare for 2023 including:
Professional review of HSTC budget and budget process. We have hired a bookkeeper as this is too much for any volunteer.
Review of tennis management contract and discussion of goals for our continued partnership.
Membership enrollment review to ensure a smooth process for new members, consistent maintenance of current memberships and member retention.
3 I 5 I 10 year project planning! The list above is just the start of the improvements and projects our board has sought your input to start implementing. Hamlet 2025 was just the beginning!
Importantly though, none of this work can be done without a dedicated group of members willing to serve on the HSTC Board. We are in need of volunteers to join the board!!! Open positions as we head into 2023:
Legal – Thankfully this mostly involves contract review.
Treasurer – With the hiring of a bookkeeper, this position will drastically be reduced in time and effort. Someone with a finance background is desperately needed.
Vice President – This will ideally be a training position for a rising President.
Web Administrator – We have a great website but we really need someone to manage it on a regular basis.
Snack Bar – Are you dying to help control the sugar content of the snack bar offerings? This person oversees the snack bar manager and keeps the ring pops stocked!
Social – We are planning to get a social committee back up and running (we will need people to help with party planning too!). Social Chair oversees these folks and helps organize and coordinate the social schedule.
These positions are voluntary, however you will receive a discount on your HSTC membership, and the opportunity to give back to our community. Please send me an email if you have any questions about the job responsibilities for any of these positions or if you are interested at [email protected]. If we do not have a functioning board, we will have to look at other options on how to run the HSTC which could include having to hire staff and increasing dues.
You will be receiving an email in the next few weeks which will outline our financials. We thank all of you for your membership, and encourage you to volunteer for one of the many positions we need to fill.
