One of the most common questions I hear is, “Why do dancers repeat the same skills over and over?”

Confidence comes from competence and practice makes permanent.

Before dancers can perform a step with confidence, they need opportunities to practice, make mistakes, and try again.

At MBSOD, we believe progress happens one plié, one shuffle, and one count at a time.

Practice over perfection. Every time. The body needs time to develop muscle memory which happens with repetition.

Happy Sunday, MBSOD!

Last week was a wonderful week of camp. Campers explored the fundamentals of ballet, jazz, and hip hop while building confidence, learning new skills, and making new friendships. I am so proud of their growth, hard work, and commitment to giving their personal best throughout the week.

Throughout the week, Campers explored ballet, jazz, and hip hop, with each genre developing unique skills and challenging dancers in different ways. Review Day gave dancers the opportunity to strengthen what they learned through repetition and practice. To celebrate their growth, Campers shared their skills and confidence with family and friends during a special showcase.

✨ Summer Camp | Day 1: Ballet ✨

What a wonderful first day of camp!

Campers were introduced to ballet fundamentals, including posture, arm and foot positions, pliés, relevés, and tendus. More importantly, they practiced showing up with focus, confidence, and a willingness to learn.

Throughout the day, campers made new friends, enjoyed crafts and activities, and committed to doing their personal best.

I am so proud of all they accomplished on Day 1 and can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Flexibility doesn’t happen overnight.

It comes from consistency, commitment, and showing up ready to do your personal best, whatever it is for that day.

As dancers work on becoming more flexible, they are not trying to force their bodies into positions they’re not ready for. In fact, overstretching can lead to injury. The goal is to help the body and nervous system gradually relax and safely accept the stretch over time.

Progress isn’t about being the most flexible dancer in the room. It’s about becoming a little stronger, a little more flexible, and a little more confident than you were yesterday.

Every dancer learns at their own pace.
Some catch steps fast.
Some need repetition.
All of it is normal.

Progress doesn’t always look the same and that’s okay.
Confidence grows when kids feel supported, not rushed.

We meet them where they are and celebrate every win along the way.
Slow, steady, growing dancers are still growing dancers
