You've seen the moving van and we've had some drop by queries. But no, Oak Tree Dojo is not turning into a gaming arcade. We are unloading and setting up a lot of arcade games and a few pinballs as our son has decided to give up his collection. Watch for a yard sale there the last couple weekends in July. But for now, sorry, no one can come in to try out the arcades. Soon.

Happy anniversary to my Bride! It's been 52 years. Ran across some photos when we were young. She said " I've become so old"...Darn if I can see any difference!!!? She presented me with a brand outboard for my old skiff
With the condition that we go on adventures. We started with lower puget sound that afternoon. The adventure continues ..Just let her know I'd do it again

Up for grabs, and offering them to our Oak Tree Judo friends first. These are HEAVY. They are Plywood with a layer of foam cushioning and then vinyl over it, similar to what you might see in a McD's play area. They have been outside for months and need cleaning. I think they are suitable for outdoor use for tumbling, etc, maybe around a trampoline or swing set, or any kids' play area. This has to be a 'you load and you haul.' They are stacked behind the old dojo in McKenna. 253-208-2960. Contact Sensei Fred to see them.

Hi Friends. Happy 2022!

Unfortunately, it's not off to a great start this morning. Our home phone number (landline), the one listed for Oak Tree Dojo, has been 'spoofed.' As in, you may get a call from that number, and the caller ID will say it's from Sensei Fred. But it will be a telemarketer or other troll.
We've already filed a complaint with the FCC.
For now, please block that number on your phones.

Sorry for any annoying calls that seem to be from us.

Today, August 2, a new judo dojo opens in Yelm. Founded by Mike Blank and Mike Holman, we are so proud to see this happen. The new dojo is located at 206 3rd street SE, Yelm Washington in the Lutheran Church gathering space. The name of the new dojo is Kazoku Judo Club. Kazoku means 'family' in Japanese.

We hope to see you there!

As nature preps for summer days, we are prepping Oak Tree Dojo for reopening! Tasks include a deep cleaning and disinfection of the dojo, a fresh look for the floor, and tidying of the grounds around the dojo.

Students can help us be ready by checking to be sure their USJF card is current. For insurance reasons, your card must be current for your to work out at Oak Tree. Please bring your card, or a photo of it (on your phone is fine.)

If you have been vaccinated against Covid, please let us know.

As we reopen, we will be respecting all Covid restsrictions that are still in place.

Class sizes and times may have to be modified to meet any Covid restrictions. Prior students will be given preference as classes are filled.

We are not ready to announce an opening date yet. Please continue to here and on the Oak Tree Dojo website.

AUTO PAYMENTS to Oak Tree Dojo! Please check your credit card statements!

Oak Tree Dojo shut down in April of 2020. A few people continued to make automatic payments after that date.

We'd like to clear out books and start fresh with everyone when we reopen. So, if you look at your old statements and realize you were still paying after April, please tally up what you paid and send us an email [email protected] to let us know what we owe you.

Please don't tell us to keep the money until we reopen! I know some generous souls will suggest that, but we need to start fresh with new hours, class sizes, and fees.

Thanks for your help with this.

Fred reminded me that actually the Parent's Club was in charge of ordering the Oak Tree Jackets. We are holding cash for two jackets. We'd like to return it to the judokas, or to the Parents club. We do not know if the jackets are still available.

Thanks for all your help as we lurch forward to normal times. The good news is that Sensei Fred is fully vaccinated now!

BMW alert! Someone has left a BMW parked on the grass beside the driveway to the coffee stand. We were phoned about this. They want to cut the grass and do some other work. It is NOT in the Oak Tree parking area. But if you know who this car belongs to, let them know it's going to get towed this afternoon! Or maybe earlier!

Happy Friday! Maggie Ogden here (the fast typist!) sharing a few Oak Tree Dojo updates.

The first thing to remember is that Pierce County is still in Phase 2. Sensei Fred has no interest in 'cheating' on the rules. When we do reopen, there will be a sanitation station before entry. We will ask the covid questions, check temperatures, and students will sanitize hands and bare feet before entering. Classes will be kept small for social distancing. For this time, parents and siblings cannot enter and watch. It will be only enrolled students and the senseis in the dojo.

It's spring, so you may see his truck there as we do the spring cleaning on the dojo. Lawn mowing is getting done, as well as general cleaning inside the dojo in the belief that we will be able to reopen soon.

A few notes: Fred downloaded the latest roster of students registered by the Northwest Yudanshikai to our dojo. We have about 50 currently registered students. This means students have up to date cards and are covered by accident insurance during judo or on the way to and from tournaments. Cost is $70 for a year. Students will need to be registered before re-entering the dojo for classes.

While tidying the office, Sensei Fred discovered we were holding some cash funds for jacket orders! At this time we would like to return the cash we were holding to Ian Daimwood and Walker Thomas. Please email Sensei Fred at [email protected] to arrange this.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
