Earlier today, while on patrol in Twiggs County, Game Warden Wes Freeman encountered a group of duck hunters on a private pond. Upon inspection, he discovered that the group had taken 28 ducks over the legal bag limit. Citations were issued and the ducks were donated to local veterans support group.

Finished up a trying season on a high note. Looking forward to next year with lots of plans and the hard work to make them happen.

Hot off the press…er…text message!

Our aerial observers reported BIG numbers of ducks at the Duck River Unit of Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge today. While official estimates won’t be available until conclusion of our survey season and subsequent data analysis, observers suggested that more than 100k ducks were likely in the area. Apparently mallards and many other ducks may have arrived in front of the coming cold front. We will post photos and more information as soon as we can.
