This place leaves an impression. Whitewater, hikes, history, homesteads, and more — there is always something exciting around the corner in Hells Canyon.

In another scheduling miracle, we found a window in our busy summer calendar where I was able to get back out on the river with our crew and share this special place with a group of amazing guests. We caught five sturgeon (!!), snagged the best camps, and laughed into the late night under the stars. More photos and videos to come of course…

The stars have aligned! Loose ends have been buttoned up! Our family is sneaking away for some time on the river 🙌🏼 We couldn’t have made it happen if it wasn’t for our incredible guide staff who have totally blown us away this year and are holding down the fort. Special shoutout to our most senior guide Kert — can’t even begin to describe how good it feels to have someone like you to rely on. We’ll be back in action soon. We were honored to attend the marriage of two of our former river guides this past weekend! Tanner and Jasper met while working for Salmon Raft and spent several years guiding together on the Lower Salmon and in Hells Canyon. Last week our crew refreshed and practiced their swiftwater rescue skills during a three-day course taught by the best instructor in the field, . Nate founded Wilderness Rescue International, has authored books on the subject, and brings a well-rounded approach to his courses. Our guides discussed the importance of mental and emotional wellness, teamwork, and had plenty of time to work on technical skills. Courses like these are incredible opportunities for the guides to build trust and confidence in themselves and each other, as well as keep their rescue skills fresh as we continue on with our river season!
