The spring equinox this year features a forecasted 80° down on the banks of the Salmon River. We’d all be okay with a few more feet of snow in our high mountain snowpack… But I’d be lying if I said I was sad to spend the day on the beach. Spring has officially arrived! Fall in Salmon River country is a chance to hike up into drainages we’ve admired from river level and take in the vastness of the canyon. Added bonus? Hello! 👋🏼 We’re the Demo family. We own and operate Salmon Raft — we live and breathe river life. We are constantly humbled and grateful to share Idaho’s Salmon and Snake Rivers with people from all over. Rafting is what brought us together, and what keeps us together.

Salmon Raft started super small — first as a handwritten collection of notes on some scrap paper, to a real business with a couple of boats and the two of us running a handful of trips in the summer, to multiple new permits, a larger fleet of boats, shop space, and an incredible crew of over 20. Every year brings growth, tweaks, and improvements. However the rivers remain our constants.

Our favorite part of the job? Interacting with our guests, from pre-booking conversations to seeing their happy tears after the trip returns. From never-evers to seasoned outdoorsy folks, every guest has unique goals that we love to help accomplish. Our river family grows each year and we are so grateful.

Second favorite? Waking up to the smell of hot, freshly brewed coffee in the morning after sleeping under the stars. The feeling of being so small under the vastness of backcountry Idaho sky… There’s really nothing like it!

🍎 Grocery Gift Card Drive — This Week! 🍎

Hello neighbors! If you’re like me and have been wondering how to best support our community this month, please consider helping with our grocery gift card drive.

In partnership with the Heartland Hunger & Resource Center, we’re collecting grocery gift cards that will be distributed to any community member who needs one — no questions asked. Gift cards don’t replace the vital food distributions at local pantries — they supplement them, helping our community members keep food on the table each month.

Gift cards are easy to store and distribute, and because they look like any other card, they preserve the dignity of the people served. Unlike traditional canned food drives, gift cards offer a flexible, efficient, and dignified way to help.

Here’s how you can give:
1️⃣ Buy a physical gift card at Albertsons, Ridley’s, or Natural Grocers (drop-off details below).
2️⃣ Buy a digital gift card here: https://albertsons.thegiftcardshop.com/alb-everyday-email. Send it to [email protected].
3️⃣ Venmo — funds will be used to purchase Albertsons gift cards.

A few helpful notes:
➡️ Gift cards should be purchased in increments of $5 and should not exceed $25. Want to donate more than $25? Thank you! Please purchase multiple gift cards.
➡️ Physical gift cards can be dropped off at Salmon Raft (184 Industrial Loop) on Friday, November 7 between 10:00am and 3:00pm. Additional drop-off times/locations TBD.
➡️ Physical and digital gift cards will be delivered to Heartland Hunger & Resource Center on Friday, November 7. Venmo funds will be used to purchase additional gift cards on Friday evening. I will update this post with a total!
