Join us for our monthly street takeover on the last Friday of every month. Critical Mass is a free global event that promotes cycling awareness and demands space from our fellow motorists on the road. 29-30 days every month cars rule the road. This is our ONE day that we take over the streets and show motorists how many cyclists they have on their city. Ride starts where it ends at the Mcallen Convention Center near the Performing Arts Center at 7:00pm. Wheels down at 7:30. The ride is approximately 16-18 miles with an average pace of 8-12 mph with two stops. Please be able to do 10 miles without stopping before attending this ride. See you there. RIP Eric Lee Flores.

Eric Flores lost his life this month in a senseless act while riding his bicycle. We hardly ever get the details of what exactly transpired during these incidents but regardless of the specific's, a fellow enjoyer of our hobby is no longer with us. In the state of Texas, motorist are hardly tried for injuring/killing cyclists as we are considered to be "taking a risk" every time we go out on the bike. Props to the person who with the dash cam footage who released it to police and props to the for releasing it to the public. (Hopefully leading to the arrest). Even if you do everything right (Follow traffic laws, have lights, or wear a florescent vests) it doesn't protect you from irresponsible distracted drivers. But don't let that fact stop you from enjoying what you love. Please obey traffic laws, DO NOT RIDE ON THE SIDE WALK, ride your bike with the flow of traffic, use front and rear lights, avoid heavily congested areas if you can, be highly aware between the hours of 9pm-6am, and please wear a helmet. RIP Eric Flores ✊🏾.
