Replacing a roof when your home already has solar panels can feel confusing fast.
Most homeowners know they need a roofer, but they may not realize the solar system has to be handled separately before the roof work can begin.
For a roof replacement with solar already installed, the panels need to be safely detached, labeled, stored, and reinstalled after the new roof is complete. That process is called solar detach and reattach.
The part that usually slows families down is knowing where to start:
Do you call the roofer first?
Do you call your original solar installer?
What happens if that company won’t answer anymore?
Should insurance be involved?
