It’s with a heavy heart we say goodbye to one of our friends. If you knew him you loved him. We’re gonna miss you Senator.

It is with profound sadness that the Wilburton Police Department learned of the passing of Richard Lerblance.

Richard devoted much of his life to public service. Throughout his distinguished career, he held many roles. He served as an attorney, represented the people of Oklahoma as a State Senator, and later faithfully served the City of Wilburton as both our City Judge and City Attorney, to name just a few. His dedication to the law, commitment to justice, and service to his community left a lasting impact not only on the City of Wilburton, but on all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

On behalf of the Wilburton Police Department, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Richard’s family, friends, and loved ones. We are grateful for his many years of service and the wisdom, professionalism, and integrity he brought to every role he held.

Please keep Richard’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Richard. Thank you for your lifetime of service to our community and the State of Oklahoma. Your legacy will not be forgotten.

As the 2026 Italian Open comes to a close, I just want to take a moment to say thank you.

This weekend was something special, and it simply would not have been possible without an incredible group of people working behind the scenes.

To our house staff—thank you. You put in countless hours that most people will never see, and without your hard work, this tournament doesn’t happen.

To our grounds crew and greenskeepers—we are incredibly grateful for everything you do.

A special thank you to Kelley Byrd. Kelley, you did a phenomenal job. Your leadership, organization, and willingness to do whatever it took were a huge reason this event was such a success. Honestly, without you, we couldn’t have even gotten this tournament off the ground.

And to Cherie Barnett—I don’t think you’ll ever truly get the recognition you deserve. You do more for this club than anyone realizes, and I honestly don’t know how you do it all. Thank you for your heart, your commitment, and everything you pour into McAlester Country Club. You’re simply amazing.

To every member and player who came out this weekend—thank you. More than 150 of you chose to spend your weekend with us, and that means the world. You are what this tournament is all about. We hope you had a great time, made some memories, and enjoyed everything the Italian Open has to offer.

Finally, I want to ask for something.

As many of you know, I am constantly chasing ways to make our events better. That means I’m just as interested in hearing what didn’t go well as I am hearing what did. If there’s something you loved, tell me. If there’s something you didn’t, tell me that too. If you have ideas for next year or something you’d like to see added, please don’t hesitate to call me or send me a message. Honest criticism is how we continue to improve, and I genuinely welcome it.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make the 2026 Italian Open such a tremendous success. I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished together, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of 2026 has in store for McAlester Country Club.
