Dear donors, a message:

We are truly overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity you have shown us at our kayak business, Aquatic Adventures. To my college teammate Scott Felix, who launched the effort on our behalf, thank you for always having my back then and now.

Seeing the donations pour in after Hurricane Helene was both humbling and uplifting. Thanks to you, we raised over $8,000 - sum that genuinely brought us to tears. Your support is not just helping us rebuild; it’s a reminder of the incredible community that surrounds us.

With these funds, we have ordered 20 new kayaks to replace those lost to the storm, ensuring we can continue offering the paddling experiences that bring us all together. Additionally, we’re thrilled to share that we’re using part of the funds to install solar power on our beloved school bus, transforming it into a mobile, eco-friendly office and headquarters. Your generosity has made this dream possible and is helping us get back on our feet with renewed strength.

Please stay tuned for updates on our 2025 event calendar, including open water races, full moon paddles, and spider lily tours. We cannot wait to share these adventures with you and create even more lasting memories together.

We had such a blast sponsoring Mt. Holly’s halloween 🎃 aquatic celebration tonight! Check out the amazing Pumpkin Paddle on Dutchman’s Creek at River Park. Kids of all ages were stoked. More updates to come on our relaunch following Helene… stay tuned!

Hi!

A quick update on tomorrow's South Fork River trip:

- We are following the advice of the Catawba Riverkeeper guide who will be leading our group tomorrow. He says that while river levels are currently high, he expects them to drop later today and be fine for our trip. He does recommend that paddlers be of at least intermediate skill level since the current will be faster.

STAY TUNED - I'll email/post an update at 5:30 p.m. once we see what the levels are projected to be in the morning.

TRIP INFORMATION

Our next outing meets at 10 a.m. Sat., Aug. 10 at the Catawba Riverkeeper boathouse.

This 2-2.5 hour paddle will give paddlers the chance to experience small Class I to II rapids. This is welcoming for adventurous beginners as well as intermediate and advanced paddlers.

We will meet at The Boathouse (115 Willow Drive, McAdenville, NC), at 10 a.m. and then take a shuttle to the Spencer Mountain Launch in Lowell, NC, and then take-out and the Pharr Family Launch in McAdenville, NC.

The Riverkeeper will be opening their bar area for beers for our participants who wish to socialize afterward!

We will have a 12-person limit for this trip. Participants must register in advance.

The next outing of the Aquatic Adventures Kayak Club will be at 10:30 a.m. on Sat., July 13.

We will meet and paddle from Aquatic Adventures at the Mt. Holly boat landing (724 Elm Ave., Mt. Holly). Afterward, members are invited to enjoy complimentary snacks and refreshments courtesy of AA at our boathouse.

You are welcome to bring your own kayak. We will also have kayaks for members to rent.

COMING IN AUGUST: We are working with the Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation to collaborate on a paddle on the South Fork River. Stay tuned!

Our next outing of the Firehawk Brewpub Kayak Club is this Saturday (May 11)! Meetup @ 10 a.m. at Firehawk Brewpub. Park at Firehawk.

Now that Dutchman's Creek is cleared of logjams, we will take our first paddle launching from Firehawk down to the boat landing. We will shuttle you back to Firehawk!

Membership is just $35 - and includes:

- Organized monthly group paddles, second Saturday of every month at Firehawk Brewpub
- Free club t-shirt (PICK UP AT PADDLE)
- Free FH snacks at group paddles
- $5 off kayak rentals at club events (Normally $25 but only $20 for members)
- Firehawk punch card: 28 beers = free engraved club pint glass to keep at bar or take home! (PICK UP PUNCH CARD AT PADDLE)
