The things we love most in this country were protected by people willing to sacrifice everything for it.

Grateful today for the freedoms we so often take for granted.

The point is… it’s actually about all of those things, to a degree.

All this stuff matters. It’s not a bad thing to care deeply about something. Hunting would be pretty boring if none of us got fired up over it.

Somewhere along the way, though, a lot of us realize several things we once thought were critically important aren’t the whole point either.

There are stages to this stuff. Literally. Most hunters move through them whether they realize it or not. From just wanting to shoot something… to wanting a big one… to wanting consistency… and eventually realizing the memories, people, traditions, and time spent outside mattered more than we thought they did at certain points throughout our hunting journey.

None of the stages we go through or have gone through are wrong.

That’s the point.

Where we miss sometimes, is remembering to respect where people are in their journey, or at least that’s the point we’re trying to make, and so is sharing camp, passing it down, caring deeply about hunting without letting ego consume it is the point. Don’t take hunting so seriously that it loses its magic, fun, and laughter.

At the end of the day, this whole thing is supposed to add life to our lives and those we care about and be careful not to let it completely take it over.

Our fifth annual Foam Fest!

What started as shooting foam with buddies has slowly become something we care deeply about. Families. Kids. Community. Passing this thing along before it disappears into phone screens and busy schedules.

3D archery. Kids shed hunt. Camp vibes. Good people.

Bring the whole crew.

August 15th at Horicon Marsh Archers. Registration is live now--the link is in the comments.

Think we forgot what quiet feels like.

One obsession ends. Another starts.

Can only hope for another season as good as this one from 2022 when Eric and his pops doubled up on these shooter bucks 😳.

Lucky this is only one minute of complaining about mosquitos. It could be several hours. Piece of s**t devil bugs.

And I’m on the verge of cancelling almost everything else.

I can get within 5 yards of birds in the parking lot but not within 500 yards when I’m hunting them.

Most people think better shooting starts with a new bow, new arrows, or a new release, sure, but sometimes it starts with getting out of your own damn head.

Really good conversation with Mike Cascini on the mental side of archery, confidence, pressure, target panic, and why some shooters separate themselves from everyone else.
