So our First National race in Indianapolis did not go the way we were hoping or even was expecting. On Wednesday Spencer had Practice/Qualifying and had a pretty fast car. Going into his First Heat race on Thursday he started 2nd and was taken out by a car that was trying to win the race taking the Green flag going into just turn 2. Our Day was over! Wasn't too happy. So that put him 8th in the D Main. Still feeling like he had a Fast car, it was like Dejavu. Taking the Green Flag going into Turn 2 a car in front of him Spun out and he tried to move to miss the car and his right front hit the other cars left rear tire sending Spencer in the air landing upside down. That made the Chain completely fall off and bending the rear panhard bar sending him to the pits. With absolutely no hesitation (me being one handed after my right arm surgery) there were people jumping right in and trying to fix his car to get him back on the Track. It just Amazes me how other parents can have there own son or daughter on the track but will jump right in to help your kid get back on the track to continue to compete against there kid. But unfortunately we could not get Spencer fixed and back on the track in the allotted time ending his race day again. I really felt SO SO Bad for Spencer. He was very upset he never even got to turn One lap in a race. Disappointing to say the least.
But as they say that is racing. Spencer still got to make his Lap around the Big track that he will remember for a lifetime. Even though Spencer's race week ended very quickly he will take Lots of memories with him. And spending time with your son like I did will always be memorable.
Thanks to everyone that jumped in and tried to help get Spencer back on the track. It means ALOT. Hopefully the people that helped know who they are and greatly appreciated!
