Parking will be tight, if there are no spaces available, feel free to park on the street as Nassau County police are calling people to park on side streets for this even. No parking signs should be covered to allow for parking. Please do not park on Sunset as this is a very narrow street.
Looking forward to a fun tournament with friends and family and showing our support for Connor.

To the Friends & Neighbors of the Peninsula Golf Club,

On June 13, 2023, the Town Board released a letter to its Massapequa Neighbors promising to update them over the coming months regarding the timeline for acquiring the Peninsula Golf Course.

Although we believe the Town’s letter raises more questions than it purports to answer, the PGC Board respectfully requests that the people of Massapequa, as well as those in the larger Town of Oyster Bay, consider the following questions:

· Why did the Town reject PGC’s offer (as detailed in our counsel’s March 13, 2023 letter) to grant a “right of first refusal” to address the Town’s stated concerns without the time and expense of litigation?

· What are the projected litigation costs and expenses that the Town will incur in connection with the condemnation and seizure of the course?

· Has the Town adequately explained how residents, golfers, and their guests will benefit from the use of public dollars to seize and operate what is already a public golf course operated without public funding?

· How many new jobs will be added to the Town’s public employee payroll to operate the course, and what are the projected annual salary, pension contribution, and benefit expenses?

· Is anyone troubled by government use of taxpayer funds to seize a private enterprise that serves the public and convert it to a government asset providing the same service?

Whatever the Town’s intentions may be, its actions have elicited expressions of the wide public fondness for the PGC golf course and support for its continued operation as such. That has been PGC’s mission throughout its faithful stewardship of the course for over 76 years, and it remains so today. While we have labored under the Town’s threats of seizure for nearly two years now, the PGC Board has continued to operate the facility on a business-as-usual basis and implement improvements, and we will continue to do so for the benefit of our patrons.

Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

Very truly yours,

The Board of Directors of the Peninsula Golf Club
