Be Real Sports, provider of coaching for all levels of Endurance Athletes, has joined forces with Fitness Matters, LLC to motivate those suffering with chronic disease and disabilities to Pedal Forward. Larry Myles, team directors believes “it takes incredible courage and willpower for those suffering from cancer,
heart disease, diabetes, and depression… just to engage life one moment at a time.”

Some of our teammates use cycling as a way to combat disease and they want to share this magic with the community.” In July of this year, Be Real Sports and Fitness Matter joined forces to raise awareness and funds to support local outreach organizations like Gilda’s Club of Louisville. The Pedal Forward initiative inspires all to recall the first time they rode a bicycle and to use this same determination to engage life, regain a sense of balance, to establish a new cadence and take control of the decisions that matter most and matter now. “The cycling community continues to serve as role models and active participants in assisting others in restoring their health” says Rich MacInnes of Fitness Matters, “pedaling forward is more than exercise, it revitalizes lives. Be Real Sports teammates understand the reality of combating chronic disease where fitness truly does matter.”

Half of the BRS team were able to get the 2021 season started this past weekend at Lionheart CX. Our rosterat race was Sammy Clark, Marissa Doner, Dave Ferguson, and Mark Myles. Three of our riders landed on the podium with Sammy Clark on the top step in the 1/2/3 U23 women’s race and Marissa Doner put in a killer effort in the 1/2/3 women’s race. Dave Ferguson on the top step as well in the 3/4 race, and Mark Myles finishing the weekend off in 2nd in the 1/2/3 men’s race. Onto Carter Park this weekend! ✋🏻

Congrats to our gravel and endurance racer Dave Ferguson for completing his 4th Unbound! He had a good first leg coming into checkpoint 1 and the second leg the conditions got tougher (headwind, hills and fatigue) for everyone until the finish. He finished with a time of 14:26 beating the sun and 146th out of 616 with some heavy competition. Time to recovery and focus on the next events! 💪🏻 ✋🏻

Our junior rider is down this weekend. Today was the short track, he started 2nd to last row call up and got held up by crash on the start and finished 47th out of a stacked junior 16-18 field. He is also the youngest in that field at 15! We will be cheering him on tomorrow for the cross country at 11am. Good luck Gus! Kill it! 💪🏻 ✋🏻
