After careful consideration, River City Rugby will not be fielding a team for the Spring season. This wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s the right move for where we’re at right now as a club.

That said, we’re not going anywhere.

Instead, we’re shifting gears.

This spring, we’ll be organizing a travel squad that we are naming the River City Raiders made up of our players to support other teams who may be short on numbers. If your club has matches coming up and needs extra bodies, reach out to us. We’re ready to lace up and compete.

We’re also opening up our home pitch as a neutral site for matches whether you’re looking to cut down on travel time or just need a place to play, we’d love to host.

This keeps our guys on the field, builds connections across clubs, and keeps River City Rugby active and growing.

We’ll reassess this Fall and look forward to coming back stronger.

Appreciate everyone who continues to support River City Rugby this is just another step forward.

🏆Countdown to Fall Ball🏆

We are officially 1 week away🎉

This year both players up for Rookie of The Year were also nominated as our top 2 Most Improved Players!

Carl Malone: Carl The Postman Malone gained some confidence that led to great strides in his rugby game. You can find him playing anywhere in the tight 5. Carl became a powerful runner, and also became a reliable player in rucks and set pieces. Not only did he upgrade his game in 2025, he upgraded his family with a beautiful baby boy. A big 2025 Congratulations to Holly and Carl on their little addition! 💥

Henry Cafourek: Henry was one of the most reliable club members we had in 2025. Throughout the year we recognized him gaining quite a bit of confidence as well. Henry is young, fit, and willing to play wherever you put him. He played anywhere from lock, flanker, or even on the wing. His speed and effort allowed him to make several plays, one of the most memorable may have been a kick return he had in our home match against Faribault this Fall. 🏃‍♂️💨

🏆Countdown to Fall Ball🏆

7 Sleeps to go 🎉

The Ames Award is named after Skip and Bonnie Ames for their off-field contributions to the club for several years. Without contributions beyond the field, a club does not move forward. This award is considered the greatest annual award one can receive through our club.

2025 Ames Award nominees are:
Ryan Thul - Served as the club's Treasurer in 2025 and has served that role (and others) for several years. He is well organized and is perfect for the position. Beyond "running the books", he made sure we had supplies, food, beverage, etc. for home events. He also served as a contact to outside entities as well (such as Prime n Wine). Furthermore, he helped with set up and clean up at most home events. He goes into 2026 as the club's Vice President which positions them well. 📝

Brody Neve - Served as the club's Facilities Manager, a new position added in 2025 specifically for him. He has a strong set of practical skills that he uses to help take care of our clubhouse and work on upgrades for it. He spent multiple hours at the clubhouse putting in manual labor. Brody isn't done yet, he accepted and was unanimously voted into the Facilities Manager position for the upcoming year where he hopes to continue on the projects he didn't get to this year. 🛠️

Marc Blong - Served as the club's President. He helped where he was able. 👍

Join us November 22nd to see who wins the coveted Ames Award!

🏆Countdown to Fall Ball🏆

8 sleeps to go!

Here are this year's MVP nominees:
-Paul Blong: Mr. Fundamental here was nominated for his ability to cover the field, fundamental skills, fitness, and consistent play in set pieces as well as open play. This ageless wonder seems to be playing his best rugby in his 40s 😳

-Cole Arndt: A nomination for domination... For about a decade or so he has been one of the toughest players to bring down in our state. The only thing that has changed is he seems to have increased his speed as he ages. His blend of power and speed helps him to be a menace for opponents and give his teammates the belief he can score anytime the ball is in his hands 💪

-Mason Drescher: Mr. Versatility here was nominated for being the ultimate utility player. Is he a 9, 10, 13, 7 or front row? It doesn't matter, he plays everywhere, just put him in coach. At 22 years old Mason continues to elevate his game. His aggression and hitting seemed to reach a new level this year which pairs nicely with some natural athleticism. 💥

Congratulations to these 3 on their nominations.

Join us November 22nd at Prime n Wine to see who is this years MVP!

🏆Countdown to Fall Ball is at 2 weeks🏆

and we need your help!🫵

While we are excited to be inducting the original 1972 team into our Hall of Fame this year, we haven't been successful in contacting all of those that are still with us. We are in contact with a handful, but are taking to social media to try and network and make contact with these men or honor them in their passing.

If you, or someone you may know, can help us with contacting them, please reach out to our page.

Thank you and see everyone November, 22nd at Prime n Wine!
