This Saturday from noon-5pm and Sunday 8am-2pm we will be having our August 3D shoot at Spring Park Preserve in Mason City!!!!
Come and join us for a weekend of fun while slinging arrows at 40 of the coolest targets on the market!!!
Kids, you only got two weeks left until you go back to school!!!! Get some shooting in before you go so you're ready for deer season!!!!

Happy August 6th, everyone!!! Hope you are all enjoying the break in the rainfall!!!! Couple of things coming up that we want to remind you of, both are on August 15th!!!!
First, Mohawk Archery Club - Mason City, IA will be hosting a 3D Shoot Saturday, August 15th from noon to 5 and on Sunday, August 16th from 8am - 2pm!!! Registration on Sunday will close at 1:30. We will be at Spring Park Preserve and we will have an awesome course setup for all of you!!! Don't miss it, grab your bows and your kids and take them out for one last archery shoot before they go back to school!!!!

Second, on August 15th, Iowa Deer tags go on sale. This year is different, tags will not go on sale at midnight like years past. Instead they will be for sale at 9am the morning of the 15th. So, if you want them doe tags pay close attention!!! I have not been able to find a copy of the new regulations yet, but that is the information that's being put out there. Please, double check so you get your tags!!!

Raffle Update:
We had a lot of people enter to win one of two Elite bows at the R100 last month and we want to remind you that you still have a chance to win a bow at our September End of the Year Shoot. We are raffling off a brand new Elite Artus in Mossy Oak Bottomlands, the tickets are $10 a piece and are available for sale at our club shoots this month and next month! If you cannot make it to get your tickets, please drop us a message and we'll make arrangements for you to buy tickets!!!

This week our question is....drum roll...is all about Broadheads!!! There is the age old debate between fixed and mechanical and we want to hear your take on it!!
Both have there place and both kill deer, I myself, for 2026, will be shooting a classic Grayling, MI Bear Razorhead to try and fill a doe tag with my '53 Bear Kodiak. Out of my Bear Persist 33, I will be shooting a G5 Mega Meat!

So there was recently an article done by Real tree regarding the best draw weight for bow hunting. Obviously, there's no substitute for accuracy, much like gun hunting, it's predominantly all about shot placement rather than power behind the arrow. But, it got me thinking, what is the opinion of our Mohawk Archery Club - Mason City, IA followers...do you prefer a high draw weight or a more moderate draw weight?

Tell us about your setups and preferences and don't be afraid to share pictures!!!
