Northwest Missouri State University senior Melanie Roland has been honored as the 2026 USTFCCCA Central Region Female Track Athlete of the Year.

Roland (Pointe-Noire, Guadeloupe) produced a pair of All-America performances including a national championship in the 400M at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Emporia, Kan. Roland also anchored the 4x400M relay squad that tallied a second-place finish.

The final Intercollegiate Tennis Association national and region rankings feature both Northwest Missouri State University tennis teams.

Under the direction of head coach Mark Rosewell, the Bearcat women finished No. 42 in the nation and the Northwest men came in at No. 47 in the country. The women posted a final dual mark of 17-6 overall (7-2 MIAA), while the men went 12-10 overall (3-2 MIAA/GAC North Division).

The men's doubles pairing of Dominik Witjntes and Gage Foltz were ranked No. 43 in the nation and No. 10 in the region after gaining six wins, including four in dual action.

In the women's Central Region rankings, Northwest came in at No. 5. Miru Nonaka gained a No. 10 region ranking to close the year. Nonaka gained 11 singles wins with eight of those coming in the dual portion of the schedule.

In the men's Central Region rankings, the Bearcats also were tabbed No. 5. Dominik Wijntjes was ranked No. 4 and Pavlo Vysotin was ranked No. 10 in the final region ledger. Wijntjes notched five wins at No. 1 singles, while Vysotin went 17-5 and led the team in singles victories.

Coach Rosewell completed his 42nd season at the helm of the Bearcat tennis program. He has gone 626-302 in men's play to go along with a mark of 670-318 in women's action. Rosewell has posted 1,296 wins as the Bearcat head coach. Rosewell tallied 22 wins at Central Missouri prior to coming to Northwest to give him 1,318 collegiate coaching victories.

Northwest Missouri State University senior center fielder Frank Gall has been named to the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II Central Region Second Team.

Gall (St. Joseph, Mo./Bishop LeBlond HS) led the Bearcat baseball team in batting average (.354), hits (81), runs (75), triples (6), RBI (55), sacrifice flies (5) and stolen bases (27).

Gall set the single-season Bearcat records for runs scored and tied the mark for hits. Gall's 229 at-bats were also a single-season school record.

Gall was a second-team all-MIAA selection as he started all 54 games for the Bearcats in leading the squad to a 36-18 record.

Five members of the Northwest Missouri State University softball team squad gained Academic All-District® honors for their performance on and off the field.

The Academic All-District® honorees for the Bearcats were catcher Kaylee Cords, infielder Sara Farlow, outfielder Omara Love, pitcher Rien Moore and infielder Curstin Todd.

The 2026 Academic All-District® Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

The Northwest Missouri State University track and field teams finished day three of the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in a dominant fashion, secured the highest finishes for the Bearcat men's and women's programs and Melanie Roland captured the women's 400-meter national title.

The Northwest women scored 35 points to place sixth, setting a new program-best finish by topping their 11th-place showing in 2024. The Bearcat men tallied 38 points to also secure sixth overall, surpassing their previous highest finish of seventh set in 2005.

It marks the third top-10 national finish for the Bearcat men and the first-ever top-10 finish for the Northwest women at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

The Bearcats totaled 27 All-America honors during the three-day meet. Three relay squads and 11 individual performances secured first-team status, while three individuals earned second-team recognition.
