We’re excited to welcome Garron Newell to the Speed Formula BMX Training Team!

Garron is a hard worker. Every time he shows up, he’s ready to learn, willing to put in the work, and always looking to get a little better. That’s something I really respect.

One thing that’s important to us at Speed Formula is that we’re not just looking at where a rider is today. I enjoy helping riders grow, build confidence, and see what they’re capable of through hard work and the right guidance.

I think Garron has a lot of potential, and I’m excited to be a small part of his journey.

Welcome to the team Garron!!

One of the hardest parts of BMX is making the move to Expert. You’re racing faster riders every weekend, and it can be easy to lose confidence if you’re only looking at the results.

Owen has stuck with it. He has kept showing up, kept training, and kept believing the work would pay off.

This weekend, after only 8 months in Expert, Owen made his first National Main Event!

That’s a huge milestone and a sign that he’s headed in the right direction. Confidence doesn’t come from hoping. It comes from putting in the work over and over until you know you belong.

Congrats Owen!!!

Chase started racing just last year, and today he got his first National win as an Intermediate.

Pretty cool to see how far he has come in a short amount of time.

Really happy for you Chase. Congrats!!!

Whitney has put in a lot of work over the last year, and today that work paid off with her first National win.

Wins like this make me happy not just because of the result, but because I know the work that went into it.

Huge congrats Whitney!!!

Speed Formula keeps growing,

The last couple weekends my dad, Chad “Chadillac” Gay, has been on it. He took 1st at the Gold Cup Qualifier at Johnstown BMX and heads into the final at Westmoreland with a perfect score. He raced in the 80s, then we both raced together is the 00s. Now here we are again in the 2020s. Look out for us in the 2040s

Curtis Shook and his son Russell have also joined the team. I’ve known Curtis since we were kids, so having him and his family be part of this is really cool. Curtis is a multi-time Gold Cup Champion and NAG plate holder, and Russell is all gas and no quit. This past weekend at SOMD BMX they both grabbed 1st at the Gold Cup Qualifier.

Jason Egbert has also come on board and is now coaching the Speed Formula program at Hamilton BMX. Jason raced at the pro level and brings a ton of knowledge to the riders there. Having someone I trust helping build this with me is huge.

What started as just me wanting to help riders get faster has turned into something bigger than I expected. I’m thankful for the people who believe in it and are helping build it with me.

Garron has accomplished a lot in a short amount of time.

He started training with me as a 7 Intermediate with just 1 win.

Since then, I’ve watched him continue to improve and rise to every challenge in front of him.

In his first year training with Speed Formula, Garron won 19 races, earned State 1, Gold Cup 2, and moved up to Expert.

That’s a huge jump in a short period of time.

What I respect about Garron is that he keeps showing up and keeps working.

This weekend, that work paid off with a big milestone.

Garron made his first National main event as an Expert.

That is something to be proud of.

Congrats Garron!!!

None of this has come easy for Luke.

Like most kids, when you move up from Novice to Intermediate to Expert, you get a big reset. You go from winning to having to work your way back up.

I’ve watched Luke race since the beginning. I’ve watched him work hard to get to the front, and I’ve watched the frustration that came with having to start all over in Intermediate.

Today is confirmation of the Workhorse Award Luke earned last month as a Speed Formula rider.

Today, Luke got his first Intermediate National win.

The work Luke puts in every week isn’t just about BMX. It’s about the confidence, discipline, and grit he’s building qualities that will stay with him for life

Congrats Luke!!!

May Speed Formula Rider Development Highlights

This month our riders put in serious work.

At Speed Formula, we are not just guessing who is getting better. We are tracking timed sprints, averages, consistency, attendance, improvement, and the ability to repeat quality reps.

May Rider of the Month: Paul

Paul earned Rider of the Month with elite consistency, improved speed, and strong repeatability across the month. His scorecard shows what we are building — measurable progress, not guesswork.

May Awards:

Tripp — Raise the Floor Award
Tripp improved the quality of his slower reps and became more consistent from top to bottom.

Luke — Workhorse Award
Luke showed up, put in the reps, and kept building through consistent training.

Whitney — Resilience Award
Whitney showed toughness, kept working, and battled through a challenging month.

Jillian — New Rider Spotlight
Jillian is brand new to BMX training and is already building confidence, skill, and a strong foundation.

This is what Speed Formula is about:
showing up, doing the work, tracking progress, and building better riders one rep at a time.

We don’t focus on outcomes.
We focus on the process.
