A member of our Montana ski family is hurting today, and we’re hurting with them.

Our thoughts are with everyone at Maverick Mountain as they face the devastating impacts of wildfire within their ski area.

From all of us at Great Divide, we’re thinking of the Maverick family and the entire community surrounding them. ❤️

With heavy hearts, we are sad to say the sand creek fire is actively inside the ski area boundary. The Maverick chair has sustained damage, but further details are unknown. We wont know the extent of the damages until we regain access to the property!

A big thank you to all the people on the front line and everyone who has helped us this far! Please keep our community in your thoughts.

Winter is built in the summer. ⛷️🌲

The lifts may be quiet, but Great Divide definitely isn’t.

Our crew has been busy across the mountain with trail clearing, dirt work, lift maintenance, inspections, and all the behind-the-scenes projects that help get us ready for another winter.

And summer at Great Divide isn’t all work. We’ve also been welcoming people back to the mountain for summer events—including celebrating with couples and families at summer weddings and the National S3DA shoot.

Turns out the mountain looks pretty good without her winter coat, too.

Meanwhile, we’re already looking toward 2026–27:

There’s still plenty of summer left, and plenty more happening behind the scenes.

From Belmont to Great Divide.

Before it was Great Divide, this mountain was known as Belmont — a local ski hill built by people who wanted Helena to have a place to ski.

As we look ahead to our 85th ski season, we’re starting to collect stories, photos, and memories from every era of the mountain.

Did you learn to ski here? Race here? Work here? Ride your first chairlift here? Have an old pass, patch, trail map, or photo tucked away somewhere?

From first chair laps with the kids to sunny spring runs filled with giggles and high-fives, you’re the heart of our family ski hill. These moments of carving turns together and creating lifelong memories are what it’s all about.
We miss see all our ski moms and are so grateful for every adventurous mom who chooses the slopes as their happy place with their families.

Return hours:
Monday–Thursday: 8 AM–4 PM
Special return window: Saturday, May 2nd, 9–11 AM

Bring your Great Divide lease gear to the Old Shopko Parking Lot from 2PM–6PM for our in-town pickup.

Can’t make it? You can also return equipment at the mountain Monday–Thursday from 8AM–4PM during April, or call (406) 449-3746 or email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) to arrange another drop-off time.
