Motorcycles Return To Marysville

(Marysville, CA 6/1/26) America’s raw pursuit of freedom on two wheels comes to Marysville Raceway with AMA District 36 Motorcycle Racing this Saturday night June 6. Over 20 divisions of motorcycle racers will invade the raceway for this flat track motorcycle race event.

“We know it has been over 15 years since the last Motorcycle event was held at the raceway.” Explained track manager Dennis Gage. “We have been seeking a perfect blend of events for the local fans, and this just makes sense, “he continued. “When Fast Times promoter Steffan Nielson approached us about doing this event, we thought what a better setting than Marysville,” Gage concluded.

The event will be co-promoted by Fast Time, Nielson and his partner Mike Folger. The pair has vast experience in organizing and executing and event with 100 riders expected. Operating within the 100-year-old American Motorcycle Association, District 36 was founded in 1955 to provide supervision and sanctioning for motorcycle racing in Northern California and Nevada.

A broad cross section of riders representing a diverse age group will tackle the Marysville dirt for the first time.
Fast Time holds events at 5 California dirt tracks, but none are the exact size of Marysville. The event will be highlighted by the popular P*e Wee Class and the daredevil Pro division.

Marysville Raceway is located just off Simpson Lane next to the Marysville Flea Market in the Yuba River flood plain. The ¼ mile clay oval has operated for more the 60 years at this location. Over time it has had numerous configurations and operators. Improvements over the last decade have made the facility rival any California oval track operation and draws a large contingent of racers and fans.

The pit gate will open at noon on June 6. The front gate and grandstand will open at 5 P.M. Racing is planned for 6:00. Tickets will be sold at the gate or may be obtained online through the track website at www.marysvilleraceway.com. Online tickets are discounted. Adult tickets at the gate will be $20, Junior and seniors are $17, kids are $10. Under 5 are free.

Additional information may be obtained at 530-350-7275 or www.marysvilleraceway.com. Race details about the event may be obtained by calling Nielson at 530-403-9843.

Andy Forsberg becomes winningest driver in Hall Memorial history with thrilling drive Sunday

Marysville, CA…Andy Forsberg may be approaching age 50 in less than a month, but on Sunday night he looked every bit a spry youngster utilizing a brave and bold drive, bringing home his seventh career Mel & Marlyn Hall Memorial triumph at Marysville Raceway.

With his win from the 10th starting spot, the Auburn veteran becomes the all-time leader in wins at the event, breaking a tie that he shared with Marysville Raceway legend Colby Wiesz.
Forsberg and his Pacific Highway Rentals No. 92 team pocketed $5,000 for the SCCT victory, plus an additional $150 cash for Hard Charger thanks to the Rounds Family.

“This is one of those events that really means a lot to me,” Forsberg said to infield reporter Roy Benning. “The Hall Family were such huge supporters of the sport out here and gave a lot of their lives to auto racing. They played a big role in my early years driving, so to win this race seven times is special.”

The 30-lap Shop Kyle Larson feature began with High Sierra Industries Dash winner Colby Copeland jumping out front. The driver of the C&M Motorsports No. 7c set a fast pace early on and kept the field at bay.

Lapped traffic over the opening stages created some hectic and exciting racing as usual on the tight Marysville Raceway bulling. Tanner Carrick and Chance Grasty raced closely behind Copeland as the leaders zigged and zagged through the slower traffic.
Several cautions and a red flag period slowed the flow just before the halfway point of the race. After that, however, business began to pick up. With 14 circuits complete Andy Forsberg found himself in sixth, but he was determined to not stay there.

A restart at the halfway point saw “Mr. Excitement” rocket to the high side in traditional fashion and charge all the way into second. He proceeded to work on leader Copeland and looked to make the pass on a couple of occasions, only to have cautions bring it back.
Forsberg stayed with it though and finally sealed the deal to get past Copeland on lap 18 for the top spot. Copeland didn’t let him off easily and remained glued to his tail tank. The Promoter at Silver Dollar Speedway then had to deal with a fast-moving Grasty, who claimed second on lap 24.

The final laps saw Grasty cut the gap between himself and Forsberg, while making it a battle for the win coming to the checkered flag. Forsberg hit his marks and crossed the stripe just ahead of Grasty to claim his ninth career Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour victory.

Grasty and Copeland rounded out the podium on Sunday evening. Grasty captured $300 for Fast Time earlier in the program thanks to Sierra Foothills Wine Services, Brian Sperry and Chowchilla Mike in memory of Leslie Goohue.

He then accepted the BC Bold Choice Bonus to collect $500 prior to the Dash draw. With extra money on the line for second, he and the F&F Racing team took home $3,300 for their efforts.
Sean Becker and Justyn Cox completed the top five. The remainder of the top 10 was filled out by Tanner Carrick, Seth Standley, Luke Hayes, Austin Wood and Brad Bumgarner.

The Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour returns to action this coming Saturday May 30th at Placerville Speedway.
The Davy Thomas Memorial offers $6,000-to-win/ $600-to-start and features several extra incentives thanks to several gracious people.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jason Ballantine Gets First Win of the Year

Marysville, CA (5/24/26)…Jason Ballantine picked up his first win of the year at Marysville Raceway on Sunday night during the Mel and Marlyn Hall Memorial. Ballantine earned the hard-fought win and led all 20 laps. The race did finish under a checkered / red flag. On lap 19, the leaders were about to receive the checkered flag to conclude the race. Yet, Leon Olschowka had spun in turn two and the yellow emerged.

This sets up a two-lap dash to the finish. There is a new rule this season that only gives the competitors one chance to finish once they do a lap 19 restart. As the cars restarted, Ballantine was trying to keep the lead and hold off a hard charging KC Carpenter. As the two raced side by side through turn one, there was contact between them both. As this happened, Carpenter went for a wild tumble into the infield. With his rollover, the red was needed, and the race was officially over. Ballantine was awarded the win. It was good to see Carpenter walk away from the violent flip.

Misty Castleberry earned the hard charger award by finishing in second. Third went to Mike Ballantine. David Derr Jr. and Jacob Johnson rounded out the top five. Johnson rebounded from a lap four spin. Malone Concrete added an extra $100 for the win and $200 for Hard Charger.

Johnson won the first eight lap heat race. Castleberry earned the popular win in heat two.
