Tip Tuesday

School has started and seasons are changing! It’s crazy how fast this year is flying by! As we start getting back to a “normal” schedule be sure to making good habits a priority.

Rest well -get to bed at a reasonable hour and unplug from technology at least 30 minutes before bedtime. This will help improve sleep and allow you be ready for whatever the next day brings.

Move -set aside time to get active whether through sports, going to the gym or taking a walk outside.

Set goals -no matter what the time of year it is never the wrong time to set goals for yourself. What do you want to accomplish this fall and does it reasonably work for your schedule?

What an honor and a privilege it has been to coach these girls this AAU season!! I have so enjoyed getting to see each of them grow as players 💗 It has been nothing short of fun! And finishing out the season with a championship win isn’t too bad either 🤪

Progress over perfection...

We probably hear this all the time, but how often do we actually live by it?

⭐️ Progress is not always linear, there will be ups and there will be downs...

But when we hit those down moments does that mean to quit all together? NO!

So maybe we had a big cheat meal or got sick and couldn’t train all week -we didn’t fail, we just had a minor set back.

No one moment or one meal is going to complete change the way we look or our progress 👀

Change happens with being consistent over time!

⭐️ There is no ‘perfect’ time to start!

Life is always changing and things happen.. but is that going to be our excuse to stop moving forward?

We don’t need to have it all put together to start -setting small goals and hitting them is still progress!!

So what small goal do we want to accomplish today??

✨Nutrition Tip Tuesday✨

What does a portion of protein, carbs, veggies and fats look like? Don’t overcomplicate it! Start by using your hand! 👋🏼

Protein=palm of your hand
Carbs=cup your hand
Veggies=make a fist
Fats=use your thumb

This is the very simple way to track your food and keeping your portions in check! Next time you make a meal try shooting for a portion of each of these on your plate! 🤩

A little look into my life...

About a year ago, I decided to switch up my career path from PT to fitness coaching/sports training and started at BTY!

This year has been quite the adventure from just starting coaching, to gyms shutting down with Corona and all 😅

But I’ve absolutely loved coaching and watching people progress in their fitness and/or sport!

And now a super exciting addition is I’m now a Nutrition Coaching certified 🤩

So if you looking for a fitness or nutrition coach in-person or online...I’m just a dm or text away ☺️

Exercise isn’t just about losing weight. Exercise also has a profound impact on your mental health.

Exercise has been shown to boost your reward system and make you more prone to pleasure. This means you expect things to be more enjoyable and experience more enjoyment after a good workout. Exercise also decreases your negative reaction to stress, making you better equipped to manage the inevitable stress you will encounter throughout your day. The next time you’re having a bad day, try incorporating some movement before you reach for your numbing agent of choice. You might find exercise to be a much more effective medicine.

If fat loss is your goal, it is important to focus on the behaviors that will give you the biggest bang-for-your-buck. This hierarchy highlights which behaviors have the biggest impact on fat loss.

Nutrition and strength training will lead to the biggest body composition changes, so prioritize them first. In order to recover from those hard workouts and regulate your fat burning hormones, it is also important to prioritize sleep. Cardio is helpful, but not nearly as important as mainstream exercise advice would have you believe. And lifestyle changes will always have a bigger, more sustainable impact than the latest fad supplement.

Everything on this list can be beneficial in your fat loss journey. But for best results, be sure to tackle the big rocks first!
