The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed the detection of a New World screwworm (NWS) in a bovine in Zavala County, Texas. NWS is a serious pest that affects livestock, pets, wildlife, and less commonly, people and birds. NWS larvae (maggots) burrow into the flesh of living animals, causing serious damage to livestock.

USDA urges residents in the area to check their pets and livestock for signs of NWS. Look for draining or enlarging wounds and signs of discomfort. Also look for screwworm larvae and eggs in or around body openings, such as the nose, ears, and genitalia. If you suspect your animal is infected with screwworm, contact your state animal health official or USDA area veterinarian in charge immediately.

Our foaling season has concluded for several weeks now. We extend our sincere gratitude to our valued clients and wish them continued success with future Indiana Breds. As a reminder, we encourage all breeders to register their foals with the IHRC, a straightforward and complimentary process that holds significant importance.

At Springcliff, we are pleased to announce that our mares are in foal to notable stallions Mitole, Cyberknife, Jimmy Creed, Bolzy, and Arabian Lion, with exciting prospects for the 2027 breeding season. This year's crop includes promising prospects from Bop trot ,Greatest Honour, and Mitole. We wish everyone a successful year and take a moment to express appreciation for the diligent efforts of your foaling farm staff, who undoubtedly appreciate the recognition and need it!
