Because of traditional coaching and the worry about command, most youth pitchers will hang out over the rubber and NOT move forward down the mound early enough.

The throwing hand should NEVER cross to the second base side of the pitching rubber.

This causes the arm to continue climbing which will hurt the shoulder (impingement) and cause late and aggressive stress on the arm and elbow.

Ever heard of the “balance point?” We don’t teach it in the traditional way.

Everything starts with the spine!

When we teach pitchers balance, it’s always starts with learning where their body is and understanding what it feels like to have the spine balanced over the back foot.

Once they get it, the key is maintaining it all the way through and identifying where they lose that balance and emphasizing that specific moment in the delivery where the focus is to keep the spine into the heel at THAT very moment.

Players I love you, but you are wasting your ENTIRE OFFSEASON!

Here’s your offseason…

Wait wait wait, get back into shape, season starts and you’re NO BETTER than last year!!!

If you want it like you SAY you want it, your offseason needs to be the following…👇

- 4 weeks of 3-4 days low to medium intensity
- 2 weeks high intensity for 10-15 throws
- 12 to 16 weeks of pushing as hard as possible to see REAL gain!
- 6-8 weeks of blending back into bullpens and building up pitch count

Waiting until January? What that means is you’ll probably start looking around for a plan or a pace to train for a few weeks and ease into the next few weeks and you’ll be 6 weeks into it right before school ball starts and then you’ll be “too busy” and nothing will change.

What I’ve found with trying to move down the mound (MFF or Drift as it’s been referred to) is that if you REACH with your foot or glove or hand, you’ll be robotic and look stiff…
