Hey Dad,

I see you.

I see you standing at the fence with your phone in your hand.

Trying to capture every lap.

Making sure you don’t miss a moment.

You probably think you’re there to watch me.

But sometimes…

I’m watching you.

I see the way you cheer before the green flag ever waves.

The way you celebrate a good finish like it was your own.

The way you never stop believing in me, even on the nights I don’t believe in myself.

I see the long days.

The late nights.

The race car that somehow gets put back together before the next weekend.

The sacrifices I won’t fully understand until I’m older.

I see you loading the trailer after everyone else has gone home.

I see you fixing what broke.

I see you showing up…

Again and again…

Because somewhere along the way, my dream became yours too.

One day, I probably won’t remember every lap you recorded.

I won’t remember every ride to the racetrack.

Or every conversation on the way home.

But I’ll remember you.

Years from now, I’ll probably watch those videos again.

I’ll think I’m watching the races.

But what I’ll really be watching…

Is you.

Your voice.

Your excitement.

Your pride.

Your love.

Because you were never just recording the race.

You were recording my childhood.

Thank you for making sure I never forget it.

The Best Part of Racing Was Never the Racing

No one tells you this when you first pull through the pit gate.

You think you’re there for the racing.

For the adrenaline.

For the checkered flags.

For the roar of the engines and the smell of race fuel.

But somewhere between the heat races and the feature…

Between the rain delays, borrowed wrenches, kids riding bicycles through the pits, and folding chairs lined up outside trailers…

Something unexpected happens.

You find your people.

People who start out as strangers parked a few spots away.

People whose kids become inseparable before anyone ever learns each other’s last names.

People who save you a seat without asking.

People who hand you the tool you didn’t know you needed.

People who celebrate your victories as if they were their own and quietly stand beside you after the nights when everything falls apart.

Before you know it, the racetrack isn’t just where you spend your weekends.

It’s where life happens.

Our kids won’t remember every finishing position.

They won’t remember every lap time.

But they’ll remember sitting on fences long after the sun went down, sharing candy, laughing until someone yelled that it was time to head to staging.

They’ll remember running barefoot through the pits.

Sliding down the exit ramp.

Swimming in Turn One after a summer rain.

The excitement of a rainout—not because the races were canceled, but because it meant one more night spent laughing with friends under trailers while everyone waited to see what the weather would do.

Trading helmets.

Borrowing bicycles.

Watching fireworks from the back of trailers.

Growing up alongside kids who understood this life without anyone having to explain it.

Those weren’t just Saturday nights. They were the childhoods we never realized we were living.

To every family we’ve shared a pit with…

To every parent who has watched our kids like they were your own…

To every friend who has shared a meal, loaned a part, held a flashlight, pushed a car to staging, or simply sat beside us on the hard nights…

Thank you.

Thank you for proving that home isn’t always a place.

Sometimes it’s a dirt track.

Sometimes it’s a folding chair beside a trailer.

Sometimes it’s a borrowed wrench.

Sometimes it’s a rain delay that turned into an unforgettable evening.

Sometimes it’s the people who cheer the loudest when your number is called and are still standing beside you when it isn’t.

Years from now the race cars will change.

Drivers will move up.

Kids will grow up.

Some fences will be replaced.

Some tracks will close.

Some Saturdays will become memories.

But the relationships built here…

Those will outlast every checkered flag.

Because trophies collect dust.

Photos fade.

The race cars eventually find new owners.

But the friendships, the stories, and the people who walked through this season of life with us become part of who we are forever.

So, to every family that unknowingly became part of ours…

Thank you for every laugh.

Every conversation.

Every borrowed wrench.

Every shared meal.

Every rain delay that turned into another memory.

Thank you for giving our children a childhood they’ll tell stories about for the rest of their lives.

And thank you for reminding us that the greatest thing we ever brought home from the track wasn’t a trophy…

It was all of you.

The ones who show up

There's something special about the men and women who show up without you even having to ask.

The ones who see you struggling and just walk over.

The ones who drop what they're doing, put their own racing aside, and get right there in the middle of yours.

Not because they have to.

Not because there's something in it for them.

But because they love this sport just as much as you do.

And sometimes, loving this sport means forgetting about the points, the lineup, the feature, and who's parked where on the leaderboard.

Sometimes, it's about getting somebody else's car back on the track.

It's about lending a hand to the guy you might be racing against in an hour.

It's about helping the family whose kid is trying to make their next race.

It's about knowing that tonight, it might be you needing the help. And next week, it'll be somebody else.

Because out here, the people who will crawl under your car and help you get back on the track might be the very same people you're trying to beat to the checkered flag.

And that's what makes this sport different.

The competition is real.
The desire to win is real.

But so is the love for the people standing beside you.

And if our kids are watching, I hope they see that, too.
I hope they learn that you can race somebody hard on the track and still be the first one to show up when they need you.

That winning a race is one thing.

But being the kind of person who helps somebody else get the chance to race at all?

That's something worth being proud of.

Because sometimes the best part of racing isn't who's leading the points or who's taking home the big check.

It's the men and women who show up, without being asked, just because somebody needs a hand.

And that's a kind of winning that will never show up on a leaderboard.
