MVC's Junior Varsity League of Legends team remained undefeated after a close 2-1 set against the University of Northern Iowa today. After rolling over the opposition through early aggression in the first game, the Viking Junior Squad found themselves locked in a seesaw 40 minute struggle where their team fighting skills could not nullify a series of costly errors. Despite clutch hook plays by Richard "Ryzgo" Oles, who played through a bout of the flu, the Vikings were handed their first ever game loss.

But the Iowa team made a costly error in the third frame by failing to ban Aatrox, the favorite champion of Thaddeus "Herpzar" May Jr. Herpzar proceeded to put on a clinic in the Top Lane, securing an early kill that kept up pressure while the remaining lanes held their ground. A series of kills by Jungler Ian "Ice" Edinger and shot-caller Troy Brayton swung the match towards MVC's favor, but the highlight of the entire match was the game-ending invasion of the enemy base.
After dropping the last enemy tower in the bottom lane, the Vikings chose to push through towards Iowa's camp despite the fact that most of the team had less than half their health remaining. The decision might have proved costly, but in the end, the team was able to pick off their opponents as they respawned while somehow managing to destroy the enemy nexus to win the game. The MVC coaching staff singled out Bottom Laner Brett Hooten for recognition. Hooten recovered from a painful performance in the second match to contribute to the team's comeback win.

The JV team faces the CMU Eagles this Saturday at 2pm. The match will be live streamed in the Esports Classroom with Reserve Player Jacob Cooper calling the play by play.

Varsity squad members Matthew Jeong and Giordano Pereria will travel to Chicago to participate in the College Esports Invitational on Nov. 10. The Varsity squad will close out its PreSeason the week after with a match against SUNY Buffalo.

Viking Overwatch continues its Preseason with matches every Sunday starting at 7pm.
