Perfect weather for snow tubing at zip n slip snow tubing Park!
Fresh look at snow totals ❄️📊
And yes — there’s a big difference depending on where you live.
Wednesday night into Thursday, high totals remain likely in western North Carolina and East Tennessee, especially the Smokies and high elevations, where this setup favors meaningful accumulation.
Outside the mountains, the story changes quickly.
The model is showing classic upslope enhancement on the west side of the mountains, followed by a shadowed zone just east of the Blue Ridge. Once you get away from the immediate mountain influence, there’s a narrow window where upper-level energy could squeeze out a quick burst of flurries or snow showers early Thursday morning.
This is upper-level driven, not a classic storm system — which means:
• No guarantees outside the mountains
• Some spots see flakes, others see nothing
• Accumulation outside the mountains would be minor at best
Could it cause issues? Unlikely — but with frozen ground, a brief heavier burst could create a slick spot or two around the morning commute if this pans out.
This is the snow equivalent of trying to pinpoint where a summer shower pops up — only this time, temperatures are cold enough for snow.
If you want meaningful, high-impact snow, that’s in the mountains.
If you want a chance to see flakes, just east of the mountains is the best bet.
I’ll keep tracking it and keep expectations honest.
