Hot Doggett 100

Three different rides to choose from: The Hot Doggett 100, The Devil's Fork Metric 100 and Big Laurel Grind 50 km: http://hotdoggett100.org

We will have the same challenging 100 mile and 100 kilometer closed loop courses as last year. Our 100 mile course covers some of the most scenic and lightly traveled roads anywhere in western North Carolina. Those of you who are seeking a challenge will find it in the 9,600 feet of ascension on that course. Click on the "courses" button above to see a complete course description. For a still chal

lenging but slightly easier ride (a mere 6,500 feet of climbing), you might want to try the 100 kilometer ride. This ride covers about 64 miles and actually goes over Devil's Fork Gap and the Appalachian Trail into Tennessee for a few miles.

Only 1 cyclist-Jerald Long completed the full 100 Doggett Mountain Challenge today. Jerald came down from West Virginia and this was his first century he has ever done.

A small group of dedicated volunteers stuck around to make sure he was safe (SAG drivers Benson and Sherrye Perry) stuck with him to ensure he made it safely back to Mars Hill University. Thank you SAG!

Shout out for Madison Health and Rehabilitation who is one of the Hot Doggett Gold sponsors again this year! These folks help is in many ways beyond their sponsorship including providing the bags for the sponsor goodies, washing all those towels that are given to our cyclists as they cross the finish line, AND they provide the volunteers for the Sam’s Gap rest stop. The Hot Doggett 100 – now in its 20th year! – is made possible by the Madison County Tourism Development Authority.
