Good morning, MT50 community!

If you’re still looking for lodging on race weekend, there are approximately 8 spots left at the Forestville Campground. This location puts you near heart of all things MT50- packet pickup, start/finish line, and live music. Head over to their website to check availability and learn more about the campground.

Forestville Campground is located just north of the chalet at the Forestville Trailhead. There are 15 rustic sites tucked closely around a circular drive with a fire pit and picnic table at all sites. Forestville provides direct access to the North Trails non-motorized trail system. Reminder: Training run #1- SMALL loop only- is coming up quickly!

Join us at 7am EDT @ the Forestville Trailhead in Marquette on Sunday, June 28th! This training run will be featuring our “small loop,” which is the first 10 miles of both the 50k and 50mi races. These events are a non-competitive way to log miles, preview the race course, and enjoy the camaraderie of our running community. This is a great time to practice with race day nutrition or gear. Please keep in mind that these events are self-supported so be sure to pack your gear (bug spray, water/electrolytes, food, etc.). To help us (and our volunteers) plan ahead, please select “going” on our MT50 event if you’re planning to attend

MT50 race weekend updates!

This year, we are excited to announce that the Kids' one mile race on Friday night will be sponsored by Altra Running and will be free to registrants 12 and under. A huge THANK YOU to Altra for supporting this MT50 event! Race day registration is available at the Forestville Trailhead. The race will begin at 5:30pm.

Additionally, we've made the tough decision not to run the Friday night 5k this year which will allow us to focus on making your race weekend a smooth as possible.

One of our favorite features of the MT50 is watching your headlamps dot the singletrack in the predawn hours. Here, runners navigate the terrain along the Dead River as they approach aid station 1 (BLP Wooden Bridge).

We say it every year, but it's worth repeating: the MT50 course rates as a 4/5 for technical terrain with a few sections being noted as having "substantial rocks, roots, and ruts." In the months leading up to the race, we encourage you to consider your trail training, your strength and stability training, and your footwear. If possible, find trails in your area that allow you to practice running on uneven and technical surfaces. Consider adding ankle strength and stability exercises to your routine. And definitely spend some time dialing in your shoe selection. Whether you prefer maximum cushion or a lower profile, spend time deciding what works best for you before race weekend. If you have any questions about footwear, don't hesitate to reach out to our good friends at Queen City Running Company, they'll be more than happy to assist you.
