Congratulations to all of the class of 2020. The team would like to give a shout out to Allison for her accomplishments on the team and in the classroom. We would also like to thank her for volunteering in the community for the crew or not for the crew. Allison was the President of the 2019 NMU Crew and she was an amazing president. She was a big help organizing all of the equipment and the regattas. With her help the team made a huge decision of naming a boat, the boat that was once known as the Michigan State Women's Eighth is now the Debra Cook. The team would like wish you a successful career and a Congratulations on graduating.

Meet Mandy Joslyn!

Year: Junior
Major: forensic biochemistry
Hometown: Wheaton, IL
Why I joined rowing: I ran cross country and track all throughout high school, and I loved it, but I was prone to injuries. I joined rowing so I could still have the family feel of a team and to stay in shape without stressing my feet. I joined with absolutely no experience, and I have fallen in love with the sport! 🙂
Year rowed: 3 years
Team position: vice president
Activity outside of rowing: cuddling my guinea pig

This is Morgan Ciecko. She is a Sophomore. She is studying Fisheries and Wildlife Management. Morgan is from
Carleton, MI. Morgan is a first year rower. She joined crew because she always loved the water and wanted a good reason to get out there and have fun while doing it, even if it meant joining a sport she had never even tried before this year! In doing so, she has learned so much and rowing has become one of her favorite things to do, espeically with all the wonderful humans she has had the opportunity to share it with. Activities Morgan likes to do in her free time include hiking, scuba diving, yoga, and photography.

As the executive board was cleaning out and putting away all of our equipment yesterday we realized that one of our boats was not named. The four of us all looked at each other and we decided to name the boat. We used to call it the Michigan State light weight eight. Well the new name for the boat is Debra Cook aka "The Cook". Debra had been a huge help to the team over the year. She has taken the team under her wing and has helped coach us, teaches the new rowers how to drive the chase boat, and taught us how to pull the boat trailer safely. She has always been there when we need someone's help or need to know how to do something. The team could not think of anyone better to name the boat after. Now we cant wait until next year so we can row the boat with its new name "The Cook".

This is Allison Fron she is a senior studying environmental science with a minor in GIS. Allison joined rowing because she wanted to try something new and it seemed like an interesting sport. It is her fourth year rowing and she is the president of the crew team.
An activity Allison loves to do outside of class and rowing is playing in the NMU orchestra.
