Today is the big day! Don't forget: sign in and day-of-registration begins at 8 a.m. for a 9 a.m. start time.
Participants should grab a parking pass at the entrance of the park, or you can buy one at sign in as well. The additional proceeds from park entry help boost what we can give back to the park!

Tomorrow is the big day!
Very early this morning I will place some signs with arrows in the park to help direct traffic to the start line. The signs may fall over if it is windy or if people try to run them over.
An easy way to get to the start line is to enter "Wyatt Wendelin Memorial Park Bench in Kanopolis State Park" into Google Maps for the directions.
We will be taking walk-up entries. For an entry without shirt it will be $25 and for an entry with a shirt (limited supply) it will be $40. We will begin signing runners in at 8 a.m. for the 9 a.m. start time.
We will have bug spray and water available at the start line of the run and at the registration table if anyone needs them. After the run there will be a snack/ beverage station.

A message from race director Jordan:

The Horsethief Canyon Trail Run is in just a few days and we are busy getting everything ready. Trail Work is finished, t-shirts are printed, pre-registration packets are stuffed, and we got the weather to cool down. It looks like we will have extra shirts this year for anyone that would like to buy one on race day.

This year we have four water crossings, the deepest one is about waist deep. All of the water crossings are controlled by beaver dams, so the water is calm and easy to wade through and should feel good on a warm day.

We do have race day signup starting at 8am, so if you haven't pre-registered you can still join us. Hope to see everyone race day.

Have a four-legged running partner?
Our trail run is open to have dog participants- however, we do ask a few things of you beforehand. Please understand that the weather can still be quite hot in September and take proper safety measures to keep your furry friend healthy. Also, once on the trail there will be no quick way back so please be sure that your dog is experienced and prepared to finish out the 10K. The trail is rocky, sandy, and will potentially have burrs or other sharp objects to keep an eye out for. You may also encounter horses on the trail. Be sure that your dog is dog-friendly and that you will be able to control them to maintain a safe running environment for others.
You know your dog best, so if you feel they are a good fit then we are happy to see them out on the trail!
This run is not a good fit for dogs who have not had many trail running experiences beforehand. Feel free to message us if you have any questions about the trail conditions.

Just about three weeks until the big day- but don't worry, there is still time to get signed up!
Pre-registration is open until 11 pm on September 7th. You will have the option to sign up for the run with or without the addition of a t-shirt and/or keychain.
You will also be able to register on the morning of the run, starting at 8 a.m. We will be able to take cash, check, or venmo. Shirts will be available, first come first serve on that day!
