Just a few notes to highlight as race day is approaching.
If you're coming from the south. When you get to the intersection of K-4 and K-141 there is a sign the says "ROAD CLOSED LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY." The road is open to the lake so you can get to the Corral Shelter from there. Just drive around this sign. If you're coming from the north, K-141 is closed and you will have to go around. Either take I-135 south to Lindsborg and take K-4 east to K-141 and north to the lake. Or from the north if you take K-140, follow detour signs to get around the construction on the closed portion of K-141. Please note weather forecast is for rain Wednesday thru the weekend. Last year the detour was very muddy and several people got stuck. I recommend if you are coming from the north take 135 south to Lindsborg and take K-4 to K-141 to the kake.

Packet pick-up is Friday 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Corral shelter.
For those of you that live in Wichita, or the Wichita area, you may pick up your packet Thursday from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. We will be loading up the supply truck at 11440 W 1st ct N, Wichita, Kansas.
Late packet pick-up is Saturday 5:30 am to 6:30 am at the Corral shelter.

Race Morning Check In: Please remember you must check in the morning of the race no later than 6:45. You must check in even if you have already previously picked up your packet. You will check in by last name, or your number. Normally we will have a sign up in the shelter above the person you need to check in with. If you don’t check in you are NOT in the race.

There will be no drop down option at this years races. You must finish the race you start or you will be listed as DNF. If you need to change, YOU MUST CHANGE YOUR RACE DISTANCE BY ((FRIDAY AT PACKET PICK-UP!!!)) IT IS TOO LATE TO CHANGE DISTANCE AT SATURDAY MORNING LATE PACKET PICK-UP If you start the 50K you must finish the 50K you cannot drop down to the Marathon during the race, or you will be listed as DNF.

The Course is well marked with Pink surveyor's ribbon on the way out to the gate 6 aid station and around the big bluff loop. The course is marked with Orange surveyor's ribbon from the gate 6 aid station back to the Corral shelter finish line. There are several places with "Caution Tape" DO NOT cross or go around caution tape. When you see caution tape we are telling you to go a different direction. Look for a key turn, detour, etc.

We came across a few downed trees that have not been removed from the course. You will have to maneuver around or over these obstacles. Please be careful while doing so.

Drop bags: Drop bags for Gate 6 and the finish line at the Corral Shelter may only be left at the shelter Saturday morning we will not take them on Friday night. There will be sign at the back of the shelter for each aid station. Please make sure you put your bag in the right area and that it is marked with your name, number, and RACE. If it isn’t marked with which race you are in it will stay at Gate 6 until the aid station closes. Please keep your drop bag to about a shoebox size, remember our volunteers have to haul them in and out of Gate 6. Gate 6 will be a fully stocked aid station with lots of food, water and sports drink.

Crew/spectator directions to Gate 6: From the intersection of the park entrance and Hwy 141, turn north (left) and drive 6 miles to Ave K, the Mushroom Rock Park road, turn west (left) and drive about 3 miles to the T, this is 25th road, turn left again and drive approximately 3 miles to the parking area on the west side of the road. The aid station is to the east about a half mile walk in. Please park to the north of the cattle guard as beyond that point is private property.

Water Bottles: There will be no cups at the unmanned aid station so you will need to have water bottles or a hydration pack. The unmanned will have water only.

All other general information about the course and race rules can be found on our ultrasignup page. https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=133005

One last note, with the recent warm weather and rain we’ve had the trail is growing, the trees have leaves, the grass is growing and the TICKS are out in full force so you may want to use a repellant. Also for anyone bringing their dogs the water spots are few and far between, the springs and creeks have some water, but there are places where it’s several miles between water.

See you all soon,
Elden RD
