Light Hiking

Since I broke my ankle in 2022 I've had 3 various surgeries. I am still hopeful that I can get back into some hiking in the future. I hesitate to close this page! Possibly this summer I may be able to resume some lighter hiking. If not, then I'll close this page. I miss it.

I had hoped so much to restart the hiking group! Now I am scheduled for a second surgery on my ankle in a couple weeks. I am going to keep the group open thinking I'll be good to go by mid-September. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Are you interested in doing some "light hiking"? I may change the name of this group soon. Since seriously breaking my ankle a year ago I realize that it will never be the same. Wondering if there are hikers out there looking for not so challenging hiking..........?

Four months post ankle surgery and being hopeful that I can start hiking again soon! May be a light group hike first. I've done Presque Isle recently, but slowly! I am not ready to cancel the group yet since I am confident at some point I'll be able to pick up where I left off.

Almost 4 weeks post surgery. Things are healing well. The injury is non-weight bearing so I've been sitting for 4 weeks! The break occured while hiking Presque Isle Park. Slid down an icey slope. While I went forward, my ankle went in the other direction. It is still my intention to hike again in July. So, I will keep this page open and list a hike at that time. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Unfortunately I had an accident falling on ice while out hiking this week. Surgery on my broken foot will be next week. Told that I can get back to walking/hiking in the summer. Thought of shutting down the webpage, but I am going to hang in there and hopefully schedule a hike for July. This is a challenge to say the least!

Waiting for the weather to stabilize! It seems each time I schedule it is below zero, or a storm on the way! We'll be back hiking soon.

If you are interested in The Passport Challenge, read the article to learn where you can pick up your passport. I am going to incorporate some of the challenges into this hiking group after I pick up my card on February 5th.

The passport challenge is a scavenger hunt in which participants must visit various locations on the trails and search for a posted challenge card with a unique symbol.

With the extreme cold I am going to hold off planning group hikes till it warms up a bit. I'll be watching the advanced weather report and hopefully be able to choose a day soon. I don't remember a winter this cold!!!

No hikes will be scheduled in December. We'll be back at it in January 2022! Maybe ask Santa for some Yaktraxx:)
