Melina’s story is one we hear all the time.

She had already done what most people do when they’re in pain— she saw providers, including PTs, followed recommendations, did the exercises… and yet the problem never fully went away 😕

The frustrating part wasn’t that she wasn’t trying.

The frustrating part was that despite all her effort, she was still dealing with the same issue and still feeling limited in her workouts and with Pilates.

When she came to us, Dr. Carly took a different approach. Instead of asking, “Where does it hurt?” she asked, “Why is this still happening?”

Because pain is rarely just about the painful area.

Over the last few months, Melina committed to the process. We looked at the bigger picture, addressed the root cause, and built a plan that fit her life— not just her symptoms.

Today, she’s back to lifting weights. She’s back to Pilates. And best of all, she’s doing both without constantly worrying about pain showing up.

That’s the goal.

Not just feeling better on the treatment table.

Not just temporary relief.

Getting back to the things you love and trusting your body again.

So proud of you, Melina. Thank you for trusting Dr. Carly and our team with your journey 💪🫶

Do you feel like your rows and lat strength is going nowhere? 😔

You might just be using momentum! 🤯

As you can see in the first movement, the movement strategy is using a lot of momentum and this can often leave you NOT even feeling the lats engage and just feel your forearms and biceps and can be why you have pain ❌💪

In the second movement, the movement strategy is much more connected and utilizes proper control. As you can see, she is pressing her arm on the box into the box to engage her shoulder blade muscles and she is moving the weight in a controlled fashion. Doing it this way will actually get you to feel your lats and finally break through plateaus🏋️‍♂️

Doing the rows using the 2nd movement strategy will also minimize risk of injury in your back, forearms, biceps and shoulders 👍

Cues to focus on:
✅ Drive your elbow to your back pocket
✅ Arm on the bench/surface, push the arm away from the bench
✅ Slightly tuck the pelvis

Things to avoid:
❌ Using momentum: this will decrease muscle strength, control & gains and can cause injuries
❌ Shoulder blade collapsed inwards
❌ Arching your back

Try these out and comment below how it went 🤙

Reviews like this remind us exactly why we chose to build a practice outside of the traditional insurance model 🙌

When this client first came to us, he had already done what most people do— he went where his insurance told him to go.

Unfortunately, his experience was what we hear all too often: rushed appointments, generic exercises, multiple patients being treated at once, and never really feeling like anyone was looking at the full picture.

He was understandably skeptical. Paying out of pocket for physical therapy can feel like a big leap when you’ve already spent time and energy trying other options.

But what he discovered is what we believe at our core:

Healing isn’t something that should be rushed.

Every client deserves one-on-one attention, a personalized plan, and a provider who is invested in finding the root cause— not just treating symptoms.

Dr. Leo’s work with clients is something we’re incredibly proud of. His commitment to continued learning, his ability to explain complex concepts in a way that makes sense, and his dedication to giving people the time they need are exactly what set our clinic apart.

Most importantly, Dr. Leo understands that the body doesn’t work in isolated parts. Real recovery requires a whole-body approach, and that’s where lasting results happen.

To hear a client say that investing in their physical health was worth every penny is something we never take for granted.

Thank you for trusting us with your care and for allowing us to be part of your journey.

If you’re tired of feeling like just another number in a busy clinic and you’re ready to finally understand what’s holding you back, we’d love to help.

Which one are you? 🤔

A good gym-goer knows how valuable it is to have a proper warm-up routine, a structured training program, good rest and recovery, solid nutrition, and to address pain before it becomes an injury 🙌

These are simple things, but so often missed in so many people’s training regimens.

We get it. Life is crazy busy and adding time for these things into your already nuts day might seem impossible, but it’s truly necessary.

If you want to avoid injury, continue to make steady progress in the gym, AND enhance your longevity, you have to find some structure around how to prepare and recover from the gym 💪

And if you feel lost and don’t know where/how to start, that’s where a professional comes in.

At The Wellness Arena, we make sure every single client has a customized warm-up, recovery, and training program 💪

We don’t want you guessing or just following stupid YouTube/tiktok stretches. Just because you “feel something” with a stretch you found online, that doesn’t mean it’s doing anything 🤯

We give you a personalized program that targets your weaknesses and turns them into strengths 💪

So if you’re feeling a little lost and want to be a good gym-goer, hit us up 📲

Your joints and muscles will thank you 😎

Client Win Wednesday!! ⭐️

When Melissa came in she was struggling with constant hip pain and back pain with day to day life and while working out.

She came in with the simple goal of increasing mobility, not having pain, and hoping to squat a little deeper.

After a thorough evaluation with Dr. Carly, she finally understand the root cause of her chronic hip and back pain and tension. And actually had answers and a structured game plan on how to fix it.

She worked on customized mobility exercises, specific workout modifications, and a roadmap of how to build strength in all of her workouts.

Dr. Carly didn’t take her out of the gym (which is a fear many clients come in with), instead Dr. Carly broke down specific movements from this client’s workouts that caused her pain and gave her custom modifications to use at the gym so she can stay in it!

Dr. Carly even addressed chronic pelvic floor pain and tension along the way (which is gone for good!).

And now? Melissa is absolutely crushing it 💪

She’s back at burn boot camp feeling stronger and more mobile than ever.

Squatting deeper than she ever has. Lifting heavier. Moving better. 🏋🏻‍♀️

We are so proud of you and all of your hard work. Keep it up 🤩

If you’re an active adult and this story resonates, know that you’re not alone and that there are SOLUTIONS!

We work with burn boot camp members, athletes, and weightlifters every single day and these stories are the norm here.

That lingering back pain every workout, that hip pinch in your squats, that annoying knee “twinge” every lunge… these things are common but not normal.

We have answer and we can help 🙌

If you’ve ever been to physical therapy before you’ve probably done clamshells 🙄🥱

Clamshells are a super simple, low level exercise that target your glute muscles, but they don’t do much more than that. And they’re far from a functional exercise.

Rotational bridges tho… now those are 🔥

Rotational bridges not only target your glute muscles but because of the modified side plank position, they also increase shoulder, hip, pelvis, and core stability 💥

And adding in that controlled rotational component targets a movement pattern that most people neglect to train… rotation!

A true 10/10 exercise!

Give these a go and let us know how much more you got those glutes (and core) firing right away 😎🔥
