An 8-hour weekend course does not make you a Pilates teacher. Period. 🛑👇

The fitness industry has a revenue problem, and it’s churning out undertrained instructors. Big brands rush the process to cash a check—taking your money, teaching generic shapes over a single weekend, and throwing people into a classroom completely unprepared. A fast-track certificate gives you a script, but it will never give you a trained eye, real-world adaptability, or true professional confidence.
If you don't know the "why" behind the movement, you aren't ready to teach.
Too many instructors know the choreography but nothing about the actual human anatomy in front of them. They can't spot physical compensations, and they don't know how to safely progress or regress an exercise. I have the bio of a "Master Pilates Teacher"—but what does that even mean? 🤔👇

Having decades of teaching under my belt doesn’t mean I’ve reached a finish line. If anything, it just means I’ve spent more time realizing how much there is left to learn about the human body.
To me, true mastery isn't a certificate you hang on the wall or a label you put in a bio. It’s an impact. It’s the ability to look past textbooks, cookie-cutter choreography, and fully understand the unique anatomy of the body standing right in front of the equipment. It’s using precision and intention to create real, lasting physical change for your clients.
So, will I ever truly be a master?
Honestly, the real meaning of mastery is choosing to be a forever student. It means never actually claiming the title, but instead committing to a lifelong dedication to continuing to study, to still questioning, and to keeping your mind open to learning every single day.

Hey instructors! Let’s talk about a cueing habit we need to break: 🚫 Stop saying "shoulders back and down."

Shoulders are built to move naturally—they rotate, glide, and respond to load. When we force clients to aggressively lock them down, their movement becomes restricted, tense, and disconnected.
To teach true stability without rigidity, swap out "back and down" for these anatomy-based cues instead:
1. Broaden the Chest
"Think about being wide across the collarbones."
"Imagine your collarbones are smiling from shoulder to shoulder."
2. Allow Fluid Glide
"Feel your shoulder blades glide smoothly across your ribs."
"Let your shoulder blades heavy down your back, but keep them free to move."
3. Create Space
"Create space between your ears and shoulders, keeping your upper back wide."

"Imagine your shoulder blades gently drifting away from each other."
