Some of you may have heard me talk about the sweatpants theory of saddle fitting. Well. . . I used this approach to saddle fitting as the basis for a presentation to equine massage therapists last weekend, and uploaded it to the ASF website.

The rules of saddle fitting are made up, but space, mass and gravity are real. The best any saddle can ever be for a horse is neutral. Good saddle fit can’t be defined by what you can see from the outside. A horse’s fit requirements can’t be determined accurately by measuring. The simpler the ...
