Congratulations to Celine and Bia on their well-deserved blue belts! This has been a long time coming, and their hard work, and dedication have paid off.

Success in jiu jitsu doesn’t happen overnight. It comes from showing up, pushing through challenges, and continuing to train even when things get difficult. We’re proud of everything they’ve accomplished and excited to see what comes next. Keep working hard and enjoying the journey.

People often think earning a blue belt is one of the biggest milestones in jiu jitsu—and it is. But what makes it so difficult isn’t just the techniques or the higher expectations. It’s the fact that this is where many people quit.

The excitement of being brand new starts to wear off. Progress feels slower. Training gets tougher. Life gets busy. This is the point where consistency matters most.

Those who keep showing up, even on the days they don’t feel motivated, are the ones who move forward. A blue belt isn’t just a sign of skill—it’s proof that you stayed when quitting would have been easier.

Getting out of your comfort zone is never easy. Trying new things, facing challenges, and putting yourself in unfamiliar situations can be uncomfortable.

But growth happens when you’re willing to keep going anyway. You may not be able to control every situation, but you can control your attitude and make the best of it. Sometimes that’s enough to help you learn, grow, and come out stronger on the other side.

She always brings good energy and plenty of laughs and jokes to class. It’s one of those things that keeps everyone smiling.

Keep being you. Don’t let anyone take away your smile or make you feel like you need to change who you are. Your positive attitude is something special, and it makes the people around you better. Stay happy, keep laughing, and keep being yourself.

Jiu jitsu isn’t always easy. Some days you’ll feel tired, lazy, or unmotivated. That’s normal. The important thing is not giving up when those days come. Keep showing up, keep learning, and keep trying your best.
The students who make the biggest improvements aren’t always the most talented—they’re the ones who refuse to quit. Stay positive, encourage your teammates, and trust the process. Your time will come if you keep training.

A fun and exciting fact about jiu jitsu history:

Jiu jitsu as we know it today was heavily shaped in Brazil after a Japanese judoka, Mitsuyo Maeda, taught the art to the Gracie family. From there, the Gracies adapted it into what became Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

What’s really interesting is that they focused less on size and strength and more on leverage, timing, and technique—making it possible for smaller people to defend themselves against much larger opponents.

That idea completely changed martial arts around the world and is why jiu jitsu is so widely practiced today.

You have to actually try in class if you want to get better. Just using strength won’t get you very far in jiu jitsu.

This is a skill you learn, not something you can force. When you focus on learning the moves, paying attention, and practicing them the right way, you’ll start to see real improvement.

Show up, listen, and keep working on it. That’s how you get better over time.

Sometimes the biggest obstacle isn’t the challenge in front of you—it’s letting outside distractions take your focus away from where you’re trying to go.

Play your game, trust the process, and keep moving forward. The students who stay focused on improving themselves are the ones who make the most progress over time.

Don’t let life’s distractions pull you away from your goals. Progress in jiu jitsu comes from consistency. While it’s important to rest and recover when needed, the students who continue to show up and train through challenges are often the ones who make the biggest improvements.

Keep training when it’s easier to stay home. Keep showing up when motivation is low. Every class is another step forward, and over time those small efforts add up to something special.

Even though it’s just a stripe, it means something. Every stripe represents hours of training, hard work, and showing up when it wasn’t always easy.

In jiu jitsu, progress doesn’t happen overnight. The small victories matter. Each stripe is a reminder that you’re improving, learning, and moving forward.

Keep training, keep showing up, and trust the process. The little steps you take today will lead to big accomplishments tomorrow.
