LIVE HITTING PRACTICE WITH UMPIRE | Ages: 12 - College

Get the game-speed reps you need before your next tournament.

Join us for a live hitting session designed for softball players ages 13 through college looking to face live pitching, see real pitches, and compete in a game-like environment with a live umpire behind the plate.

Build a strong foundation in the circle at our Beginner Pitching Clinic, designed for athletes who are new to pitching or just starting to develop proper mechanics. Players will be learning with the 11-inch ball. Join Ava Metzger on Friday, June 26 from 4-5 PM.

This clinic focuses on fundamentals, confidence, and repetition in a positive, supportive environment.

2-Day Softball Pitching Clinic with Ava Metzger

Take your pitching practice up a notch with our 2-Day Softball Pitching Clinic designed to help athletes build strength, improve mechanics, and develop more effective movement on the mound. This clinic is perfect for pitchers looking to improve consistency, velocity, and overall confidence through focused skill development and hands-on instruction to prepare for games over the weekend.

Day 1: Conditioning & Power Development

Athletes will focus on building the foundation needed for stronger, more explosive pitching. This session will include:

Pitcher-specific conditioning drills

Lower body and core strength development

Explosive movement and power training

Arm care and recovery routines

Proper body mechanics and movement efficiency

Players will learn how strength, balance, and athletic movement translate directly into increased velocity and improved endurance in the circle.

Day 2: Spin & Pitch Movement

Day two is dedicated to developing spin efficiency and understanding pitch movement. Athletes will work on:

Spin generation and wrist action

Grip development and finger pressure

Creating tighter rotation and movement

Pitch control / location and consistency

Drills designed to improve pitch effectiveness

Coach Ava will break down the mechanics behind different pitch movements while helping athletes gain a better understanding of how spin impacts performance.

Join Margo Lesser on Thursday, June 18, for extra reps before the weekend!

Athletes will work on:

• Clean glove work and footwork fundamentals

• Infield and outfield mechanics

•Quick transfers and strong, accurate throws

• Hitting mechanics and barrel control

Players will receive high-level instruction, competitive reps, and personalized feedback to help elevate their game on both sides of the ball.

About Margo Lesser:

Margaux Lesser is a former NCAA Division I and III softball player with a strong record of performance and leadership. She played at the University of Rhode Island and New York University, earning the NCAA Division III Gold Glove Award and Second Team All-UAA honors in 2023.

She brings extensive coaching experience as a Program Manager and Coach with Yorkville Youth Athletic Association, Head Coach at Grace Church School, 16U Coach for the Empire State Huskies, and a long-time instructor for ChallengeU clinics and private hitting and fielding lessons.

The Akademy is excited to announce Ava Metzger is finally available for lessons and small group training. 👏

Ava Metzger is a right-handed pitcher from Marist University, where she completed her master’s degree in Contemporary Curriculum and Instruction while competing for the Red Foxes softball program. During her graduate season, Ava helped lead Marist to the 2026 MAAC Championship, highlighted by a dominant 7-inning 4–0 shutout victory over Iona University in the championship game. She also earned a spot on the 2026 MAAC All-Championship Team for her performance throughout the tournament.

In 2026, Ava established herself as one of the top pitchers in both the conference and the nation. She finished the season ranked #92 nationally in lowest ERA while also ranking 4th in the MAAC in ERA, 5th in opposing batting average, 7th in strikeouts, 5th in wins, and 5th in runs allowed. Ava earned MAAC Pitcher of the Week honors twice during the 2026 season — first after defeating nationally ranked #22 University of South Carolina by a score of 2–1, and again after throwing a complete-game 2–0 shutout against Fairfield University, allowing just two hits while striking out 12 batters. Ava also helped lead Marist to the NCAA Regionals in Lubbock hosted by Texas Tech University.

Before transferring to Marist, Ava competed at Manhattan University, where she earned 2022 MAAC All-Rookie Team honors for her efforts in the circle. Despite facing significant adversity and missing both her sophomore and senior seasons due to injury, Ava remained dedicated to both her academics and athletics. She graduated from Manhattan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Childhood Education with concentrations in Psychology and General Science.

Prior to college, Ava starred at Colts Neck High School, where she was named the 2021 New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year and NJ.com Player of the Year.

Off the field, Ava is passionate about education and will be pursuing a career as an elementary school teacher, combining her leadership, resilience, and mentorship skills developed throughout her athletic career into the classroom.

About Ally:

Ally is a 2026 graduate of Quinnipiac University, where she is also pursuing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

A dedicated and versatile player, Ally brought extensive experience to the field with a background in both catching and outfield. At the plate, Ally is a lefty power hitter.

Ally helped lead the Bobcats to their first winning season since 2012 and a third-place finish in the MAAC tournament. Following her standout season, Ally earned All-Conference MAAC Second Team honors as well as All-MAAC Academic Team recognition.

Prior to college, she was a four-year varsity starter and three-year captain at Marlboro High School, earning All-State, All-Conference, and All-Division honors.
Beyond athletics, Ally is deeply passionate about strength and conditioning, combining her knowledge of human performance with her academic training to support both personal and team development on and off the field.
