We offer semi-private, as well as one-on-one training programs, with a focus on sustainable strength training for adults of all ability levels. For most, pull-ups aren’t a very good introductory exercise. At MM, we favor dumbbell and cable rows, and stiff arm pulldowns to teach and to practice.

Plus, we have a multiple hand selected lat-based machines so we can load your lats through various ranges.

Why a manual treadmill?

Walking is one of the best ways to ‘reverse’ some of the adverse effects of excessive sitting. To some extent, it ‘wakes up’ the glutes and hamstrings you’ve likely spent hours sitting on, because you’re actively ‘pushing the ground away’ to create locomotion.

Most treadmills, though, have a belt that passively pulls your hips into extension. This significantly limits the amount of glutes and hamstrings you’re using; what some would consider to be the most impactful effect of walking. Especially for those who spend a lot of time sitting down.

With a manual treadmill, like our trainer, you’re not only actively pushing the ground away while you move, but with a shallow curve, its going to promote improved gait mechanics, teaching you to walk more efficiently. In our opinion, way better for you on multiple levels.

Squatting is awesome. But many athletes, including many of the men and women in their 40s, 50s and 60s that train at Move More Marlboro, have an injury history, mobility restriction, or instability that limits their ability to put a heavy barbell on their back.

In many gyms, this would mean holding a dumbbell or kettlebell in order to squat. The unfortunate truth of that type of squat is, that you’re limited by the strength of your arms, shoulders, or trunk. If you’re squatting until your arms are tired, are you developing muscle or strength in your legs? Not much.

A belt squat puts the weight on your hips, so that your arms, shoulders, or trunk are never the limiting factor. Plus, you’re holding-on for a little external stability, so you can overload your legs and feel safe and confident while doing so. Your gym probably doesn’t have a belt squat. But should.
