Hotwire Robotics

Our last Rebuilt event is in the books!

We brought both Cindy (2990) and Scarab (9990) to the field at Block Party one more time. With two robots running, every student who came along got a turn on a drive team. Thanks to FRC Team 2910 Jack in the Bot for hosting!

It’s been a full season of building, driving, fixing, and getting more students competition experience than ever.

Kickoff for the 2027 game is less than 11 weeks away. We can’t wait to see what’s next!

Another weekend, another chance to get more students behind the controls.

We made the trip to Sammamish, WA for Bordie 2026, putting both Hotwire robots back on the field and getting more driver practice before the 2027 season.

Scarab (9990) had a new drive team this weekend and took on more of a defensive role without an intake, while Cindy (2990) earned a spot on Alliance 7 and made it to Round 4 of the playoffs.

Our playoff run ended with a 204–200 match. So close! 😭

Lots of driving, learning, fixing, and cheering. Thanks to Robototes for hosting a great weekend!

That’s a wrap on First Chance!

We brought TWO robots to the field this weekend. Our juniors took the controls of Scarab (9990), the off-season robot we built over the summer to learn and experiment with, while our freshman girls continued their first competition weekend with Cindy (2990).

Scarab gave us plenty more to learn. A fragile intake meant lots of repairs between matches, but the team kept it running all day.

Meanwhile, the girls and Cindy joined Alliance 3 in Playoffs with MVHS Robotics and Team Mean Machine and made it all the way to the Finals, including a semifinal win by ONE POINT. 👆

A pretty great weekend of learning, driving, and getting more competition experience. Thank you FRC Team 1425 Error Code Xero for hosting!

Next up: Bordie at Sammamish High School next weekend!

Girls Gen 2026 💗🤖

Yesterday we put four freshman girls behind the controls for their very first robotics competition, and they did a pretty great job holding their own!

The rest of the team spent the day cheering them on, teaching them the ropes, and helping them get their first taste of competition.

We also got to welcome girls from the ORTOP Robotics Camp into our pits to check out the robots and see an FRC team up close.

And we’re not done yet. Today we’re back at Wilsonville for First Chance, with both Hotwire robots hitting the field! 🔥

Off-season competitions start this weekend!

We’ve been busy in the shop getting ready, and we’re excited to get back on the field at Girls Gen + First Chance in Wilsonville!

Want to come cheer us on?

What’s robotics camp without launching some candy?

A few more photos from camp this summer and one of the moments that was definitely a hit with the campers.

A great opportunity for girls interested in robotics!

We’ll be at Wilsonville High School that weekend too, competing at the off-season event. Come learn some robotics on Saturday and stick around to see FRC robots in action!

Here's an event we are excited about! On Oct. 3 we invite girls in grades 5-12 to join ORTOP for a FREE robotics camp that's just for them.

All girls in grades 5-12 are invited to attend this event at Wilsonville High School. We will have hands-on robotics fun, food, inspirational speakers, and some free goodies too! Participants will get a behind-the-scenes look at a high school robotics competition, too, at the annual Girls Gen event held the same day.

Registration is open now and space is limited! Please help us spread the word by sharing this flyer. Sign up here: https://forms.gle/5ZvjgHgkST2YK8vc8

A look back at the Benton County Fair.

We spent four days alongside other local FRC teams demonstrating our robots and giving kids a chance to get in on the action.

Our mini HUB and catapult craft were a hit, along with plenty of chances to catch fuel from the robots and take a shot at the full-size HUB.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to build, play, and learn a little more about robotics with us!

Last season, a few students made the drive from Silverton to be part of Hotwire. This year, they’re helping start a brand new FRC team in their own community.

Since we’ve moved to swerve, we had a REV drivetrain ready for a new home and were happy to pass it along to help get their first robot moving.

We’ll be mentoring and working with the new team as they get started this fall, and hopefully competing alongside them at an off-season event soon. We can’t wait to see what they build!

That’s a wrap on our first Hotwire Summer Robotics Camp!

Our campers spent the week building and programming XRP robots, learning to troubleshoot and drive them, and getting ready to compete in the Iron Acres challenge on the final day.

Our Hotwire students stepped into the role of mentors along the way, helping campers learn new skills and work through problems.

We started this camp to give younger students in our community a chance to experience robotics for themselves, and we’re already looking forward to doing it again next summer!

Thanks to all of our campers and families for making our first year such a fun one!
