Our team got second place in the Eric Albano Memorial Tournament losing to a team from Bristol, who has recently won the Johnson City soccer league, so at least we lost to a good team, which makes me feel a little bit better.

We had 4 year olds up to 15 year olds play several Tazewell teams Saturday. As far as competing we did great and we got pictures below! But, also I wanted to share a story I thought would be good for parents to hear...

One of our 6 year olds was not at all in the mood to play soccer when she got there.

Talking with her parents, it sounds like life happened, and unfortunately, she got to bed late the night before and other things happened that put her in a bad mood.

But, in the middle of it all, her parents pulled her aside and gave her a snack and talked with her and let her cry it out and then gave her the option to leave. She chose to stay and after that tried hard and had a lot of fun!

As a kid, it isn’t easy to wake up early on a Saturday and be in the mood to run, and compete, and get back up and keep going, especially when you aren’t in the mood. I also know as a parent it's frustrating when your kids refuse to go along with the plan at the most unexpected times. It's hard to take a step back and slow down and be there for them.

But when you look at it, this little girl learned that she can work through a bad mood and keep going, and that her parents are there for her and will support her when she needs them. The parents were reminded that being there for their child when she needed them was probably the best thing they could do for her.

You can learn a lot through playing sports!
