Something every coach who cares can do...
One afternoon right before the final four a television crew came in to interview Coach Wooden. At precisely 2:55, Coach stood up and announced that he needed to leave. One of the producers said, "we're not through and practice doesn't start until 3:30".
Coach replied, "That's right but every day at 3:00 I go sit in the stands at Pauley and allow my players to come talk to me about anything that is on their minds".
"How many come?" the producer asked. "That doesn't matter," Wooden replied. "The important thing is that they know I'm there, in case they want to talk to me."

Small things... but small things that make a big difference. Be there for your athletes - it is probably needed now more than ever.

We will be holding Pickleball Round Robins at Marion Indoor Tennis on Thursdays from 7:30-9pm starting this week 10/6.
It's OPEN play for all levels and will have 4 courts with games to 11, win by 2. We will be rotating partners and opponents each round.
It's $10/each.

Dear Members,

I hope you are all having a great Summer and are playing lots of Tennis!

This is the official announcement that the Marion Indoor Tennis Club will be opening for the 2021-22 season on Monday, October 4th, at 8am. It will be a 34 week season with our last day on 5/29.

Prices will be $40/HR for court time and $60/1.5HRs. A can of balls will be $6.

Anyone who is interested in a different/new time slot should also contact me at their earliest convenience.

Also, I'm happy to announce the we offer Junior Clinics again at MITC this year!

**As of right now anyone who is not vaccinated will be required to wear a mask while playing on the courts and in the lobby.

Dear Tennis Friends,


I am very pleased and excited to officially announce to the membership of the sale of the Marion Indoor Tennis business to Mr. Karsten Rathlev. Karsten has worked at the club as an assistant professional over the last seven years. He is well liked and respected by the juniors and adults alike. I am excited to have Karsten take over the club, as he will add a new fresh perspective and he has many new ideas to improve and expand the programs of the club. Karsten is currently the Men’s Head Tennis Coach at UMass Dartmouth a position which he has held for 4 years and he is also been the Tennis Professional at Willowbend Country Club for the past 5 years.

I am very grateful the Burr family for the opportunity to lease the Marion Indoor Tennis club over the past eight years. Their strong support of the tennis community of the Marion area should be recognized.

My tennis teaching career began 43 years ago and I wouldn’t change a thing. I have enjoyed living my dream of teaching tennis as a career. This is the time for me to step back and enjoy time with my family and get busy on my bucket list. I have worked at all the best tennis clubs in the area and have made many friends and worked with some of the very best people in the business. Most of all, I want you to know I appreciate all of you, the tennis players of Marion and surrounding towns, for your support and friendship over the past 20 years. I hope to see you all around the club. I am planning a special event with Karsten once all the courts are set. The details with be announced over the next few weeks.

I will be at the club over the next couple of weeks helping Karsten where I can. I hope you all support him like you did me, and help him continue to grow the club.

One way to help Karsten is to fill out the form for your contract groups available on the website under the Membership button, just click on Fees on the drop down menu. You may also print out a helpful worksheet under the same Fees button to help you with the breakdown of your group. If you bring your completed form to the club your first night it will make the billing process much easier for the staff.

Don’t forget to register your children ages 4-18yrs for all the Junior Programs. Registration beginning this Monday September 17th at 9:00am. Clinics will begin the week of October 8th.

With the amazing new Pro-Cushion surface, and our new backdrops, divider nets and our usual great lights, your club will be the finest indoor facility in the area. It should be a great season at Marion Indoor Tennis!
